Is it worth it?

Hey guys, I'm getting 1300 dollars some time over the next week. I'm already getting a PS3 with the Show, NCAA Football 11, and Mortal Kombat.

My question is, would it be smart of me to pick up a PS2 as well and snag NFL 2K5 and some other solid titles? I was a big fan of 2K5 and the last couple NCAA titles on the PS2.

I'm going to say it depends on your situation outside of the $1300. If it can be applied elsewhere in your life, I'd go the smart route and use the money for something other than the PS2, etc. I mean, you'll have a PS3 and some great titles. If you think you will get that much enjoyment out of the PS2 and those games, and your situation is fine otherwise, go ahead and get it.

I'd just take a look around and make sure the money isn't better spent elsewhere, or holding onto it for tight times. Good luck with your decision.

NFL 2k5 is a backwards compatible game for the 360. Meaning you can play it on your 360(and judging from the 360 symbol on your profile I assume you have one). Might even be compatible for the PS3.

EDIT: According to Wiki, it's not compatible for the PS3.

Yeah I used to have a 360. It broke for the 3rd time in 4 months, so I decided to go ahead and move on.

For $50 of those dolaros you could probably get a used Xbox1 and 2K5 enhancing the 2K5 experience.

Well guys, I decided against the PS2 and those games and picked up a 160 GB PS3 with NCAA Football 11, Madden 11, The Show, and Arkham Asylum, plus another controller, HDMI cable, and 50 in PSN cash for just under 600

I'd say that is a good call. You can always go back later and get a PS2 if you have a burning desire to do so. I got a PS2 slim a couple of years ago and stocked up on a bunch of old sports titles and some other games I enjoyed playing. I don't play it much, but it's fun to fire it up every now and again for some nostalgia.

How much did you pay for the HDMI cable? You may want to hold on to the receipt and take it back, because you can get high-quality HDMI cables for less than $10 (with shipping) from Monoprice.

NCAA 11 is really good. Madden 11 is good but I couldn't find a sweet spot with the settings and eventually traded it in. I hope you enjoy it. The Show is top-notch and Batman: AA is one of the best video games I've ever played; plus on the PS3, you get the chance to play as The Joker.

I hope you enjoy the new console and games.

I think you did the right move by now ps2, bc once u get into the ps3 only games playing a game from 2004 its something u r gonna wanna do except every blue moon.

Yeah i wasn't too worried about the cost of the HDMI cable. I picked up a 6 foot from Wal-Mart for about 30. And since I've posted last I got the entire God of War series, and Uncharted 1 and 2. Only problem is my receipt says Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, but when I went and got it out of my car this morning, the bag contained Uncharted 2. So now I've got two copies of UC 2 and Gamestop isn't open yet. >
