    Re: Wii U Discussion

So struggling a little right now with what to do in regards to the WiiU.

I had been planning on getting one in the next few months (for MK8, Smash Bros, Mario 3d World, Pikmin 3, Bayonetta 2, etc.) but now it is clear that Nintendo isn't really going to put anything new out for it other than Zelda.

There hasn't been a price drop, and I don't want to buy a WiiU with no hope for future games At the same time, if their new console isn't backwards compatible I don't want to miss out on these generation games.

Just confusing because 6 months ago I was sure I would buy it....now maybe I should for the new console? Anybody in the same boat?

      Re: Wii U Discussion

I've had the WiiU since launch and have had a lot of fun with the games already out.
The longer you wait then yeah the closer to a new system you'll be.
The games you listed are very fun games

The WiiU complements my PS4 (and PC) nicely. I have to have the Nintendo first party games.

Still to come that I'm interested in are:
      Super Mario Maker
      Yoshi Woolly world
      Xenoblades Chronicle X
      and Star Fox Zero
      Zelda

No doubt I want to the play the games, I'll just be upset if I buy it and then in a year the new console will play all the games. But eh I'm gonna pull the trigger.

Ive been loving it so far, picked up Smash a few weeks ago and started getting back into a groove. That along with Splatoon and MK8 has been fun. My Nintendo ID is LionsShare1 if anyone wants to play.

I'm leaning towards NX not being backwards compatible with Wii U or Wii. I just don't see them sticking with the dead PowerPC architecture. While this doesn't rule out BC, I think it's more to do with the Frankenstein-nature of those machines and having to support their many input devices. This would probably make some mad, but distancing themselves from anything and everything to do with the Wii brand and starting fresh, is what they should do. Also, not sure NX is going to necessarily be what people expect.

Hopefully they still keep the touch screen. One of the best parts about the Wii U.

I'd be happy if Sony and Nintendo came full circle and Nintendo partnered with Sony and stopped making consoles and instead solely made their titles for PS5...

Flawless, what do you mean by the last line? Just curious if you have any insight as to what the NX may be. I've heard a lot of rumors, but the one I hear most often is compatibility with the NX and whatever new handheld Nintendo will likely offer up next.

If their next console doesn't do dramatically better than WiiU, I could see this happening, Nintendo as a 3rd party. They are already venturing out into mobile gaming where they don't control the hardware. Could happen

I agree. It's clear the hardcore gamers are largely ignoring Nintendo and going the MS/Sony route. Casual gamers have gone the mobile route. Nintendo has been arrogant and hasn't listened to developers. They tried to recruit them only to help themselves without really caring about third party games on the Wii U.

If Nintendo continues on the same path of putting out a console with limited power that can't compete with MS/Sony and doesn't have any third party support I don't even see a reason to develop a new console. Why would they even need more power? All of their games have cartoonish and simple graphics. You need more power for third party AAA titles which are absolutely necessary now for success.

Nintendo always made a ton of money because they profited off of everything which is why they always made consoles. If they can no longer profit significantly off hardware sales then you might as well go the third party software route although Sega didn't thrive when they did the same thing.

The DS and going 3rd party I "think" would be a wise decision if their next hardware doesn't do a ton better.
They need to bring out a beefy system and stop playing the "always a year behind in tech" gameplan.

It's not a win win at all. Worst thing for gamers is a console failing. Competition is a good thing.

Pretty sure they could have a dozen systems do as poorly as the Wii U and be more than fine with the cash they've got.

3rd party is my dream too, though.

                                I said it's a win for me.

If I can still play Nintendo games by buying a PS? or XB? then it certainly is a Win for me.

Do I want them to "Fail"? Of course not. ..But they need to step up with their next console..
