The day one patch is 5 GB and that takes two hours for a lot of people depending on your download speed. You might want to wait on that patch until after your first gaming session.

I think the Madden features are cool. This is what the gamepad is for. No cost patches is something devs have been wanting for awhile. Wonder if Sony or MS will follow suit.

I think I'll do the patch first just to get it out of the way. Plus I want to check out the eShop and I think you need the patch installed first.

Been waiting for another go around to play some Nintendo games and just a few hours away.
Congrats to everyone who needed one for X-MAS. Hope your kids (and you lol) have fun X-MAS day!

Getting a Wii Pro Controller today maybe also and a nunchuck to go with Wiimote. So I can play Wii games I missed out on or just plain miss...

Come on 11 CST! This will be my first launch with my 6 year old and he's stoked. We watched WiiU vids on the iPad yesterday all day. I can't wait to start turning him into a dork like his old man!

Reading around sounds like people were able to just walk in and get one. My 3.5 yr old keeps walking around saying Mario, mario.....lol! I'll probably get one at some point. Can all games be played with the pro controller if I was not to let the kids use the game pad?

Walked into Target and got a Deluxe with Mario U. After doing the update, she's playing it now on the pad while some crap on LMN is on. She's impressed and happy it's cool with me.

I ended up getting it, my kid as well was Mario Mario. Shocked how few games even support the pro controller. Bummer as well you need the classic controller for VC games. Got the deluxe, Zombi, Mario and 2 wiimotes.

I ended up grabbing a wii pro controller and the official Nintendo protection cover also. Lol
Got the wii one because it also works with the wii u and only 19.99. For the limited use I decided against the 49.99 wireless wiiu one.


Bad news... Theres a craft store here also and wife in there so I'm waiting....

Well the system is built around the pad. But MP games like cod use it.
Just grab a used one man. I knew the vc ones would need a classic controller but dont really need one just yet. When I do I'll grab a used one.

Picked up ZombiU and Mario Brothers this AM for under $100 at Toys R Us. Disappointed that Mario doesn't support the pro controller, guess I'm going to have to pick up a black WiiMote or two before Christmas.

Ok all setup and pad is charging and update downloading. After NFL its on!

And yeah the more I think about it the more it shouldn't have been to much trouble to allow the pro controller to work with stuff like Mario etc...
Oh well...

Check the vids a page or so back.
For madden its the play calling screen and can draw custom hot routes
Some gmnes it's the inventory screen which makes switching loadouts fast.
In Zombiu it switches to a scope when using sniper rifles, then at times its a radar screen etc..

Then there's the ability, if programmed in the game, to switch from playing on tv to playing on the gamepad screen.
Just hope developers keep adding unique ways to use it.
