It's printing a little slower these days though.

Re: New Nintendo Console in 2012?

It'll be weird timing...the "hardcore" (odd terminology, but used in this case to differentiate from "casual" gamers...i.e. I wouldn't consider myself a "hardcore" gamer, but by the current definitions, I guess I am) seems like they will wait for MS and Sony's next offerings, and the Wii crowd may not buy another system because they are good with the Wii (which is barely being used and they all only bought 2-3 games for anyway).

But, my track record in predicting success is pretty poor, so this thing may go on to sell millions...

Re: New Nintendo Console in 2012?

I always had this feeling Nintendo was going to stay just a step behind in technology for two reasons:

          1) Let the cutting-edge tech hit the masses more (i.e. HDTV, 3D, etc.)
          2) Keep the costs down

The only thing I play on my 360 right now is NBA 2k11, and that's maybe once a week at best. Otherwise, the Wii is on daily with either Wii Sports (for the 2-year old), GoldenEye, Black Ops, Tiger 12, NBA Jam, etc.

If a Wii 2/Project Cafe/Stream came out next year with Hi-Def, I know I would consider it. But then again, I'm in the minority...I'm not a big online gamer (outside of Black Ops), but I do enjoy it.

"Hardcore" is a term that is used incorrectly by 99% of the people who use it. Most people consider themselves "hardcore gamers" because they play games like Blops, etc., and that is definitely not correct.

It would depend on how they use the term. You could be a hardcore player playing Blops or whatever that game is. Hardcore really just means loyal.

Not really. I mean, I guess that's part of it, but that's definitely not all there is to it.

Calling yourself hardcore is just like the guy who calls himself a genius... if you really are as hardcore or as smart as you claim to be, then you don't need to label yourself so that people know it

This sounds pretty cool. I'm definitely interested to see what Nintendo shows come E3. With talks of this new controller, are they doing away with motion controls now?

They said the Wii controllers will work with the new system as well.

Right, but that's just for backwards compatibility sake, yah? With this new touchpad controller, won't new games be made for that, and not motion controls?

I see what you are saying. I guess we have to wait and see. Games can still be made for both in mind, like they do with the Move.
