The thing starts at $300. This isn't benevolent Nintendo trying to right by their customers, they're just selling a system at a loss, which makes even less sense for it to be as underpowered as it is. I'm guessing they spent all the money on the controller.

Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :) -
Re: Wii U Discussion
Nope. Just like the VITA didn't. Which was a bummer.Joshua:

Re: Wii U Discussion
I'm referring to when they actually get a full out sports sim dedicated towards the WiiU. I'm not buying this system day 1 for sure. If this system looks decent next summer/fall though with games that have had time to develop, I may take a look. If NCAA/Madden look good, I may bite if the next big systems haven't been announced yet. However, it's already been rumored that the next Xbox will be at E3.Comment

Re: Wii U Discussion
Lol, exactly! Just because it looks like a handheld doesn't make it one. I'm interested in the console but not sold on it as this is Nintendo. Can't remember the last time I played the Wii as many of the games are utter crappola.Comment

Re: Wii U Discussion
I wasn't comparing the VITA to the WIIU (In case you were talking about me) but rather the VITA Madden also did not have the physics, which it well could have IMO.
So basically saying no surprise the WiiU didn't have it since it also didn't make the VITA version.Last edited by Skyboxer; 10-28-2012, 02:17 PM.Joshua:

Re: Wii U Discussion
The Redemption of New Super Mario Bros. U
When NSMB2 proved disappointing, I still didn’t believe its Wii U counterpart would save it. Yet now, after spending several hours with the game, my entire impression of it has changed. This is precisely what this franchise needs. It’s simultaneously respectful of its heritage while adding numerous new ideas in what amounts to a fantastic mix. In fact, alongside ZombiU, New Super Mario Bros. U is now my most anticipated Wii U launch game. It’s clear that the team working on Mario’s inaugural Wii U adventure has a fondness for Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World. A great fondness. And for someone like me, whose childhood was defined by those experiences, that’s great news. The Torpedo Teds. The vast, continuous overworld that stretches and offers branching paths. The return of the Koopalings. Monty Moles. Perhaps more than any ‘New Mario’ game before it, this one brings back elements of some of Mario’s greatest adventures –some of the best in gaming history – and runs with them.New Super Mario Bros. U features a Challenge Mode, which tasks you with insane, incredible objectives that will push Mario veterans to their limits. Each ‘level’ is very simple in its design and execution - say a single, narrow platform surrounded by spikes - with an insane request - like dodging fireballs thrown by two devious Fire Bros. You’re then graded, and assigned a bronze, silver or gold trophy based on your performance. In the aforementioned case of fire-dodging, you must survive for over 40 seconds to claim the best prize. It’s more challenging than you might expect, but it’s also considered one of the easiest tasks.
As you complete more of these objectives, more of them unlock in menus separated by broad type, such as a series focusing on Boost Mode, coin collecting, gathering 1-Ups or one simply called ‘Special’ - home to the Fire Bros. stage - and more twisted concepts.
...
Its challenges are not entirely unlike some of the Coin Rush concepts in NSMB2, but they’re better, more inventive, and they get really, really hard. Try making it through a ‘Big Island’ level without killing a single creature. Try making it through a stage without touching the ground. What about using a single turtle shell to score a certain amount of extra lives? And that’s just the tip of the surface, as the biggest tasks remained locked to us.For the first time ever, Nintendo will allow you to customize the level with coin placement. That’s right - you have hundreds of coins at your disposal, and can craft even crazier tasks for you and your friends, daring others to jump blindly off ledges or risk everything for just a little extra gold.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Wii U Discussion
When I went to Gamestop to pick up Assassin's Creed the had a Wii U demo setup in the store. The only game I could play was Raymond Origins. From what I could see, If you liked the Wii, you will love the Wii U.
Also, for anyone wonder about the controller being cheap, that should not be a concern at all.Comment

Re: Wii U Discussion
First ad out there for it. Not bad. The karoeke thing could be fun on the tablet although I wouldn't pay much money for that (especially with my horrible voice).

Re: Wii U Discussion
So I finally got to play the demo unit at BBY. My thoughts:
1. Holy **** is the controller huge
2. It doesn't feel "cheap" to me like others have said
3. I hate... I repeat, HATE... how the face buttons are BELOW the right analog stick. It completely goes against my muscle memory, and they're hard to reach making my hand cramp up
4. The system is much bigger than it looks in pics, depth wise. It looks like two Wiis lined up in front of one another
5. The touch screen was extremely reaponsive, which is great
6. Rayman looks fantastic, but then again, it already does on current systems, so it's not exactly a testament to the power of the WiiU... At the very least it can compete with what's already out there, which is good I guess
7. Watching the Mario video... It's honestly pretty cool seeing a Nintendo first party title in HD for the first time. That put a smile on my face
Ultimately, I came away pretty impressed, but I honestly don't know if I could get used to the face button placement. It goes against what every controller has done since the dawn of the right analog stick; a stupid decision to lay it out like that IMO.
At this point it's a wait and see for me, but if I see some badass reviews and a 3D Mario coming out soon... I'll probably end up biting.
We'll see................ I really hated the face button layout, lol.Comment

Re: Wii U Discussion
A dev working on Marvel's Avenger game for the Wii U had this to say about the Wii U after being asked about it.
"Q: So what did you think of developing for the Wii U?
Very interesting. I wish we had a little more time to play around with it more, maybe a few more tools. When a console is first starting off there are a lot of tools that are coming later rather than sooner. But otherwise it’s fun. I personally wouldn’t mind working on a dedicated Wii U version of a game at some point."
