I think Mario's art is strong but yes the most recent Rayman games look better. They do have a different style, though. I'm excited for a 3D Mario game on wiiu though. Can't wait for that.

      Re: Wii U Discussion

We opened our Wii U for Christmas! My son loves it. I haven't had much time with it yet, just played a little Nintendoland and Madden. After just one Madden game I do not want to go back to a normal controller. It just "works" calling plays, then making hot routes or changing defensive assignments by tracing a line with a finger, on the touchscreen. I am looking forward to seeing how they implement the gamepad in other games, especially sports. Between the gamepad and the step up to HD, I'm sure the Wii U will get much more use than the Wii.

I also like how the Gamepad doubles as a remote for the TV and cable box. Checked out WiiTV for a few minutes and that looks cool too. I don't use my consoles for video other than Netflix, but the Wii U may change that.

We also got Sonic Racing and Mario. Not sure I'll be online much at this point, but feel free to send me a friend request. My Wii U ID is the same as xbox and PS3: Pete1210

Mario doesn't have any of that. EVERYTHING is super simple and there are no details worth mentioning from a graphical standpoint.

It's fine if you guys like the classic Mario or retro look but there is nothing amazing about what Mario pushes out graphically. I can only guess it would require the least amount of horsepower of any Wii U game out there. That doesn't mean the game isn't fun. My kids love it. These are two different things. But for a game to be called good graphically (quite a few of you have and maybe taking this too personally) I would think it would actually have to have some difficulty in making it look good. I don't see it.
I understand what youre saying. When I said the graphics are great I was comparing it to Marios from the past. The lighting in caves, particle effects from the sand, or the glow of fire balls is much better than anything seen in a 2D Mario game. In the grand scheme of things this is just a minor upgrade compared to other games or even other 2D side scrollers like Rayman or Trine 2.

I never initially believed NintendoLand was a great value as a pack-in game but I must say Mario Chase and Luigi's Mansion are fantastic. Our family played them all morning today. We had to take turns using the gamepad but it was a ton of fun. Chasing down Mario as a team was fun but I think Luigi's ghost hunting might have been the best. Being the ghost and nabbing one of your kids and scaring them as their controller rumbles was a blast. A great use of the gamepad and impossible on anything else.

We haven't really tried much else out on NintendoLand. Briefly tried Pikmin but didn't care for that.

So since I've had a few days off and still don't go back until next Wednesday I've bought a few things (Amazon/STEAM mostly) including Trine 2. Man the game is beautiful. Haven't got far but so far it's very fun.

That's what I was assuming, but I was hoping there was some secret trick. Oh well. And yes the other users being (1), (2), (3), etc is annoying. just have to remember which character everyone is controlling to know who it is.

I think the problem is that it is showing the nintendo id name, not your mii name. If they gave the chance for each person to choose their mii, as per nintendo land, it would work great. But since you are logged into a single nintendo id linked mii (system mii or whatever it is called) they probably repeat the name so you know who all is on the same system when playing online.

My son and I are absolutely loving Call of Duty Black Ops 2, Mario and ZombiU. Have yet to play AC3 or Nintendo Land. I just wish the game pad would last longer. I wonder if it'd hurt if I put it on the charging stand nightly?

I just keep mine on the charging stand when I'm not playing it. Works fine.

I have an outlet right next to my couch, so my pad is perpetually plugged in.

Anyone know when we will be able to buy a second gamepad and when we do will we just have to sync it like a wiimote to get it to work? Will a second gamepad work with all games?

Has Nintendo even said they want this to happen?

Later games may allow 2 game pads. I'm guessing the pairing will go like the first one did as a secure wifi connection and not plain old bluetooth.

Yeah, all Nintendo has said is "right now" no games support multiple pads so no reason to sell individually...

                                We'll see.
