Re: Wii U Discussion
I don't think I've seen a single Wii U ad.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Michel Ancel and Rayman dev team protest Ubisoft's decision to delay Rayman Legends
Rayman creator and highly-respected game designer Michel Ancel has appeared alongside members of the Rayman Legends development team in a series of photos protesting the game's delay by company bosses.Ancel and his team appeared holding a banner baring the words: "Sortez nous Rayman. Soutient a Ubi Montpellier."
"Release Rayman. Support Ubisoft Montpellier." (Thanks Eurogamer.fr for the translation).
Rayman's crying face is seen in the middle of the poster.
A speech bubble emanates from his mouth. It simply says "SVP" - "please".
The background of the poster includes crowds holding banners that read "Wii U", "Rayman", "Michel Ancel" and "28/02/13", the game's intended release date before the delay.

Re: Wii U Discussion
Extremely disappointed about Tiger Woods.
My favorite sports game on the original Wii, and honestly, if I had known there wasn't going to be a TW, I may have not purchased a U at all. I just assumed most of the EA sports games(Especially Tiger ****ing Woods! The one game that is substantially better on the wii!) would be coming to the Wii U. It's bull****...
If my girlfriend hadn't split the cost of the console with me, I would seriously consider selling the U and maybe just buying Move for my ps3.Now, more than everComment

Re: Wii U Discussion
Agreed! TW would have been nice on the WII U but only if they implemented the wii controls...just using the controller i would have still went to PS3 Move.Comment

Good on Criterion
Joystiq
The Wii U port pulls in the PC assets and immediately sports a much longer draw distance and better frame rate than its console cousins. Having played my fair share of Need for Speed: Most Wanted, the work that went into this Wii U version was clear – and not just in graphical fidelity, either.
"When we got the final hardware in November, we started to look at it, to really experience it, and start to think that just a port isn't going to cut it. Like we'd be embarrassed if we didn't do anything extra; putting something out, any team could do that."
Digital Foundry and Criterion comments
Owing to the 1GB of RAM available to developers - compared to the 512MB on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 - the Wii U version features the enhanced textures currently found only on the PC version."When they first looked at the specs on paper a lot of developers said, 'Well, you know this is a bit lightweight' and they walked away. I think a lot of people have been premature about it in a lot of ways because while it is a lower clock-speed, it punches above its weight in a lot of other areas," he explains.
"So, I think you've got one group of people who walked away, you've got some other people who just dived in and tried and thought, 'Ah... it's not kind of there,' but not many people have done what we've done, which is to sit down and look at where it's weaker and why, but also see where it's stronger and leverage that. It's a different kind of chip and it's not fair to look at its clock-speed and other consoles' clock-speed and compare them as numbers that are relevant. It's not a relevant comparison to make when you have processors that are so divergent. It's apples and oranges.""The Wii U has had a bit of a bad rap - people have said it's not as powerful as 360, this, that and the other. That, by and large, has been based on apples to oranges comparisons that don't really hold water. Hopefully we'll go some way to proving that wrong," he says.
"Nintendo don't speak about that, it's not their core focus at all but they did their 'Iwata Asks' about the hardware and it talks consistently about how they got to keep it quiet with low power consumption, and they totally did that... but what they haven't really championed is how they delivered something that could do this as well [he points to the 50-inch Panasonic playing host to Most Wanted U]... It's possible. It's work. You have to think about it and put time and craft and effort and whatever else into it but you have to do that for everything that's worth doing in this business... I think people should either go all-in or not bother."

Pretty much. We are in a window now where Nintendo should be pushing the 'next gen is now' type of message, but the lull in games and already shaky 3rd party support prevents them from really doing that.
Unless they can pull in gamers again when the games do get here this is the kind of lull that could shave years off of a consoles life IMO.

Re: Wii U Discussion
One thing that Nintendo has over the competition is the kid factor. It may seem insignificant to some but when kids come over they all want to see the Wii U. Once parents get their hands on it and they interact with their kids its almost a guarantee they will buy it in the future.
Nothing on my Xbox or PS3 captures the attention of my kids like the Wii and Wii U. What surprises me is how many Wii owners have no idea what the Wii U is all about. They have a huge installed base and they've done a terrible job of educating their customers.Comment
