    Re: Wii U Discussion

It needs to be $199 w/ a game to compete for the wallets of people spending 3x-4x that on new consoles this fall, or they might as well stop production by next fall. Even that might not be low enough.

That and/or find some way to make the tablet controller optional in an effort to get the console closer to $99. Provide an optional adapter/accessory that can turn existing compatible tablets into a tablet controller or something (some of the budget $60 tablets from Kmart are more capable whan the Wii Tablet minus a camera). They can't even outsell the Wii right now probably due to price point, and by next fall are probably going to be sitting on the shelf next to $99-150 360s and PS3s with massive bargain-priced libraries one row over to boot.

3-4 years from now I half expect I'll just be able to buy Mario games for my toddler on PS4.

      Re: Wii U Discussion

There will be an eventual (hopefully soon) price drop but bottom line is this is probably another "Nintendo is Doomed" time frame like when the Wii and the 3DS went through it.
Once the Nintendo titles start coming more and more we'll have a better understanding of the Wii U's future.

I think they haven't handled the Wii U very well at all but they always seem to come out smelling like roses.

However a nice price drop needs to happen.

As far as Pikmen I'm not sure if there will be a demo or not. All I know is I'll be at store when they open on Sunday

A price cut won't do much if there aren't any games that people want. The prices have been ridiculous in the UK and people still aren't buying them.

Loving Pikmen (Like I knew I would so no surprise)
Got through the "introduction" phase so far.
Didn't realize you could play with just the pad if you want so that's cool.

The game seemed great, did not play very much of it. The graphics still are not next gen (I know this is a cartoon style) but I am still seeing some low res textures.

Game looked clean and pretty nice to me. BUT I wasn't looking for NG graphics with the Wii U either lol

I don't even consider the WiiU NG.
It's simply my Nintendo game system

Could be further from a price cut than any of us expected, was confirmed today the unit is still being sold at a loss.

Saw that article randomly surfing on flipboard too...

Something like $21 loss per system, so they won't be cutting price anytime soon.

I'm still not sure I believe that and even if it's true I bet Sony and MS will lose $100 off each console they release this fall. Nintendo needs to accept that and drop the price to move units. When the system was first released they said if they sold one game the console was back in the black so there is room to cut.

Either way they need to cut the price badly or the Wii U will be dead to the casual crowd and only be used for first party games. I can live with that if they keep making first party games but that may fail over time too. The price cut (and more games) worked for the 3DS. Now we'll see if it will work for the Wii U when it happens.

Already dumped mine, I didn't play it son didn't care for it. It was a waste for us, got $275 on craigslist, this thing is failing bigtime in my eyes.
