Re: Playstation Network and PS Plus Discussion

    Insane month in March:
    • Bloodborne (PS4)
    • Ratchet and Clank (PS4)
    • Legend of Kay Anniversary (PS3)
    • Mighty No. 9 (PS3 and PS4)
    • Claire: Extended Cut (PS Vita and PS4)
    • Bombing Busters (PS Vita and PS4)

    Also...

We also have an important service update. Starting next year on March 8, 2019, the PS Plus monthly games lineup will focus on PS4 titles and no longer include PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita titles. This won’t affect any games you’ve already downloaded, or will download, prior to March 8, 2019. Those games will still be part of your PS Plus games library as long as you remain a member. Your game saves and other benefits of PS Plus will also remain the same – the only change is that no new PS3 and PS Vita games will be added to the PS Plus monthly games lineup beyond March 8, 2019.
    Possible PS5 Fall 2019?

    Still hoping for 2020 personally.

They are cutting off PS3/Vita games in March 2019.

They announced the 5 year anniversary of the PS4 reveal a couple of weeks back.

Next year will be 6 years, plus the 25th anniversary of the original PlayStation that was released in Japan in 1994.

Sony said the Pro would be a mid-step half way through the generation. 2016 is half of 2013-2019.

So I can see them revealing the PS5 in February/March of 2019 for Fall 2019 release on the 25 year anniversary.

I still would prefer 2020 personally for more bang for the buck tech wise, but would not be surprised all these moves are to set this up, along with 2019 games (so far) are thin portfolio wise compared to 2017 and 2018 (and what we known were coming 2017/18 2 years prior). Winding down production on mainly PS4, while titles are being developed for the PS5.

        All speculation of course.

I heard about the cutting of off ps3 and vita games but I didn't know if that really meat any thing or not. I didn't know next year was going to make 25 from the first PlayStation though. Yeah the mid gen thing I have thought about my self that is part of why I was thinking 2019 that and I am not sure if Sony wants to let xbox have the more powerful console for more then 2 years. I still think 2020 would be better and also makes more since because in 2019 I think we will see death stranded and LOU2 and also I don't see ps5 coming out in till ps4 sales start to like drop off more.

If the PS5 is BC with PS4, which the whole x86, new PSN, etc., ecosystem they ushered in is anything to go by where it will be, it is best they not wait for sales to dip. They can strike while the iron is hot, keep support for both, even more so since software revenue will still be there from no hard cut offs. Also people would be more apt to jump on the PS5 knowing they can just pop their backlog in. You do not want to have the player-base feel stagnant and jump ship otherwise, while your competitors are all adopting this model. All the moves they made with this gen from tech to software (their OS and certain remasters to preserve moving forward) screams the 'one big ecosystem' much like mobile and PC.

I can see the PS4 as an even cheaper lower price point 'entry level' into the PS ecosystem that plays thousands of games available now, and the PS5 obviously being the new hotness which will have it's own games to take advantage of the hardware, as well as upgrades to certain PS4 games now (like the Pro does), as well.

All speculation that should be obvious for them to do, but you never know. Could be my gamer hopes and dreams talking too.

I hope ps5 is BC with ps4 because of what you said about it having the x86 thing. Over all I find BC to be overrated because when I buy a new system I am looking to play new games and I always keep my old systems and games so I can go back and play them when I want to but at the same time having BC would be nice because then I could trade in my ps4 and get some money back and also save some space has having different systems over the years can take up a lot of space. I have snes, gamecube, wii, wii u, switch, ps3 and ps4 and I am kind of running out of space for all my systems and like have to switch out cables between inputs some times depending on what I am going to play. I get the whole iron is hot thing but I also don't know if they would want to come out with a ps5 if ps4 sales are still going so strong has coming out with a new console cost a lot of money with R and D.

About the cheaper thing I do think we will see a ps4 pro slim at a cheaper price soon and also a price cut for the regular ps4 slim soon to. I am thinking once ps5 is shown and we get a date I may not get it day 1 because I am worried we might get a ps5 pro a few years after like ps4 had ps4 pro a few years after and the whole mid gen upgrade thing I don't like and had I know a ps4 pro was going to come out I may have wanted and not got a ps4 in till then. At the same time if I can get a ps5 and trade in a ps4 because ps5 has BC with ps4 and save a little money and also get like better graphics/performance on ps4 games playing them on ps5 then I am more likely to get a ps5 on day 1. I am looking forward to ps5 because of 4k but at the same time I fell like ps4 still has a lot left in it.

I think you maybe right EN. Would sound good in the board room meetings.

I also think Sony will be introducing a newer VR headset with new motion controllers and possibly vr sensor gloves so they can remain relevant in the console VR market and they're going to need a beast. They've sold just over 2 million VR sets in just a year and have some interesting titles still coming up which may help move more. I think the current headsets will be compatible with the PS5 but the PS camera will no longer exist going forward. However, they're going to need a system seller next time for the newer sets and I can't think of anyone better than The Show, GT (with full support), and maybe another surprise unveiling.

BC is not a make or break for me either. However, in a world where there is one ecosystem and all your stuff works moving forward for the most part, they have been showing a lot of signs to adopt this model. I get new systems for new games as well, but it is nice to have that feature, and the security of knowing your licenses are not useless moving forward like the rest of the user interface electronics world pretty much.

Good points about VR as well. I most definitely expect a 2.0 to coincide with PS5 (if not simultaneous launch, at least within that same year). Better screens, controllers since they just patented some new designs here, as well as the breakout box being built in the system.

The camera will stay (new model however) for the sharing and streaming functions, but as far as sensors, it may no longer be needed (for VR) and possibly use a 'lighthouse' concept for better accuracy.

I probably would’ve never played Beyond: Two Souls if it wasn’t free this month. Really enjoying it.

I know it's a longshot but is there any way to see what game saves you have on the cloud under your PS Plus Membership if you're currently unsubscribed.

I wanted to see what old saves I had there but I didn't want to spend $10 for a one-month subscription just to look at old saves.

I'm sure you have a Sony account even thought you don't have PS+? Try link and follow guide. I've also been able to look at my PS Trophies which has PS3 and PS4 saves through my PS app on my phone.

                            Good Luck

                                Also Laser League for PS4.

The PS4 lineup is solid for me in that those are two games I wanted to try but never buy.
