It will never be all digital in my lifetime anyways, so it's a moot point.

All I'm saying is that the pricing has nothing to do with a physical item.

    PC isn't even all digital.

    Just for fun though.

The resilience of physical video game sales highlights one of the industry's rarer roadblocks to an all-digital future.

Though you're basically a prime example of Poe's law at this point to me, so I'm not quite sure how to respond.

Those articles are talking about the NOW when discs are still in the picture and retail chains.

I am stating that when there is NO more discs and digital is the only way to play games that the price will be lower then $60...Not saying is happening today or next year...It might take another console generation but it will happen

When that time comes the prices will be a bit lower then what we are use to and sales might be available quicker because there is no more hurting retail chains and no more paying the middle man. No renting of space required to hold stock of discs.

People might not want digital because they prefer to buy used or traded high and be collectors. But those days will be gone in the future as times change..

Companies lose tons of money to people trading and buying used games...They make no money

So going digital makes them the only game in town and will be able to offer better deals or value in pricing.

Those articles claim the reasons they are 60 all the time but that is now...Not when discs are not in the picture.

Why do you think EA access was implemented. It is a test and is being successful which you know it will lead to more companies doing it in the all digital world.

So you're saying businesses will willingly give up money.

You are literally asking for them to take options away from you, then expecting them to take less money in return.

        Please, stop.

A lot of people don't have super high speed internet either....so disc installs help them not have to download as much....something to consider at least.

Not only that, but people have bandwidth caps because the internet in the US isn't in a great spot overall - not to mention the networks themselves (XBL/PSN) aren't very conducive to downloading full games.

Outside of all the aforementioned monetary reasons, which will always be my main reason, 500gbs as a standard just doesn't cut it. Even 1tb is a tough sell to store EVERYTHING imo.

I haven't upgraded my hdd yet and probably won't because I hardly have more than 4 games at a time max these days. However, with programs like EA access (which I'm new to having just procured an Xbox One) I've already filled half my available space. I've got 3 games on my radar coming up. Since you can't sell back digital games (yet... it will be a huge selling point if they figure something out) a library over a couple years will become quite the burden on hard-drive space.

Both of those points are true. When I first got the one for Christmas I thought I would be set for the duration of owning the system. But having to download the whole game. I think with 4 or 5 games I am half full already. And I don't want to uninstall games because I will randomly play games and don't want to wait 30-45 minutes just for the game to download fully. Also disks aren't going away for awhile nobody wants it right now. I am happy with the process right now. I won't buy digital unless it's a game I will play for however long I have the console. Because I can always trade the physical disk into Gamestop or BestBuy or whoever.

True that. Where I live, I doubt I'll get anything over 6mbps anytime within the next 10 years. If gaming was to go all digital, I'd be out. It takes me hours upon hours to half a day or a day to download a full game, which really sucks. I'd just give it up at that point. I'm sure I'm not alone in that situation.

I assume you are a ps4 only fan then right? Because on xbox one it takes about the same on disc or from xbox live

Not sure if it's still true, but around launch time, Xbox One disc install times were slow because if you were connected to the internet, it downloaded the updates during/before installing the game. Users found that if they were disconnected, installed from disc, then connected, it went faster.

I still feel like it takes too long to download the actual disk into the HD. I was hoping this would already be addressed.
