Re: Xbox One
MS is working at exclusives as well (they said 15 in first year, 8 are new IP).
I'm interested in hearing the clarification on the used games. Also want to hear the price points involved.
I guess from my point of view both systems will get mostly the same games that do 99% of the same things in game. They'll both be great gaming systems, so it's all the other stuff I have to look at.
For now the PS4 underwhelmed me with not really giving us much cool stuff...if that changes then I'll consider it more. Aside from all the useful (for me) entertainment stuff neither system has really wowed us about the games, so that'll remain to be seen.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Xbox One
Lack of backwards compatibility sucks. I have a ton of games I will not buy again, or if I do, I'll buy it on the platform that is providing compatability (Sony / PS4).

Sony has a plan for backwards comparability by offering them up via the Cloud. Microsoft is 'cloud based'. Where's their cloud plan with the 300,000 servers they'll be running (up from 15,000).Comment

Re: Xbox One
I can understand that. My PS3 is a Blu Ray player except for Uncharted lol. I'm not big into GoW, so while the exclusives were decent they weren't worth the separate system IMO.

If you're into FPS then XBox was probably your go to system this time around. If you're into adventure/action games then Sony was the clear choice this generation.Comment

Re: Xbox One
It was, but you don't sell 24 million of something if people aren't interested in it. Then if you take into account games that have released since 2010 the #10 and #24 highest sold would also be Kinect games (Sports and Dance Central).

It boils down to this: Uncharted, God of War, Metal Gear Solid (kinda sorta), MLB The Show, pretty much the JRPG genre, Gran Turismo, the Quantic Dream games (Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls) and other Naughty Dog games (The Last of Us)
vs.
Halo, Gears of War, Forza. I'm struggling to find any other exclusives here that might be worth playing to a large crowd. Can't count Fable as it's a PC game as well.
PSN > Xbox live as well.
I would have bought both systems, as I have in the past just in case, but making the Kinect a requirement made it a no-sale.
They could have kept it optional (while you lose all that "functionality") and I would have been there on day one to buy it. None of the other stuff interests me in a game console. As said before, I have other cheaper options for all that stuff.badComment

Re: Xbox One
I understand that some people, including myself, think the Kinect is worthless....but you have to keep in mind the best selling Xbox 360 game of all time is Kinect Adventures. In fact it's sold twice as many copies as the next highest game on the list.
So you have to understand, while FPS and sports gamers might not care about it, there is still a huge market for it that Microsoft is clearly wanting to reach.
Im curious where the tech will go.Joshua:

Re: Xbox One
I like what the PS4 has to offer better, build in Spectator mode where I or a group of friends can watch each other play any game while commenting live. The ability to take over and play a friends game remotely, and the ability to play your PS4 games remotely with the PS Vita.
I can do most of the stuff the XboxONE has to offer on my smart TV and DirectTV HDDVR minus the gestures and voice controls. And the Kinect being a separate component just spells trouble. I may get the ONE down the line, but I will buy the PS4 at launch this fall..Comment

Re: Xbox One
MS support is incorrect
Update 2: Our man on the ground Tom Bramwell was able to speak to corporate vice president of Microsoft Phil Harrison about this hot-button issue and was able to confirm that a second user can install a game from a friend's disc for a fee, though it's unclear how much this will be. Harrison also confirmed that several users sharing a console can access the same game at no additional charge, and Microsoft has "a solution" for the resale market, though it's staying mum on those for now.Comment

Re: Xbox One
One thing I will say, across the board, and for which I'll probably be mocked, but the controllers for the next generation are extremely lack luster. To me, the XBox 360 controller was one of the, if not the, best controllers ever made. However, I hated holding it in the middle of my body to play games, especially after playing a Wii game with the Wii controllers.
With the Wii I was able to lean back in my arm chair and put an arm on each arm rest to play games. That freedom was so satisfying from a gaming/relaxation standpoint and something I was hoping to see expanded upon this generation.
Val's Dream Gaming Controller
My dream controller would be two separate parts that are roughly shaped like the two sides of the XBox 360 controller (think of it split in half with the left side for your let hand, and the right side for your right hand), with the ability to rotate the D-Pad & Analog stick from top to bottom so I can use/play with either as my primary per my choosing.
There would be an extra button for my 4th finger underneath the controller that would basically be used as a on/off switch (not so much for quick presses, but mode switching).
The two separate pieces would be able to join together as a single controller for those tough fights where I'd need extremely precise controls.
And, to top it off, since the hooks are there to join together as a controller, it would have the ability to connect to a screen, so I could play the portable XBox/Playstation gaming system, or, where I could play games that are streaming to a screen from the new XBox/Playstation or even via the cloud when out and about and my own XBox/Playstation is not available.
To sum:
- Separate Controllers for gamer freedom
- Rotating D-Pad / Analog stick for gamer preference
- Extra button on bottom for mode switching
- Ability to bring separate controllers into 1 for tough/precise games
- Ability to connect to portable console for games unique to console or made available via XBox/Playstation or even via the cloud.
