    Re: Xbox 720

I'm an Xbox guy, so I know I'll be getting a 720. I just don't know whether I'll be getting it at launch or sometime down the road. Once more information comes out it will be a lot easier to make that decision. I enjoyed Heavy Rain and The Show a great deal, but other than that I didn't spend a lot of time with the PS3. It's not a bad system, it's just that Xbox fits my needs a lot better and has been my console of choice since the first one came out. Instead of buying a PS4, I'd more than likely invest in a better PC because mine is pretty outdated.

      Re: Xbox 720

Perhaps this was already mentioned in this thread. I was reading in one of my magazines that this new Xbox is supposed to be 7 times more powerful than current gen.

      Does that sound about right?

Either way can't wait, both Sony & M$'s new consoles will be immediate purchases for me.

Rumors keep saying it will be and other rumors are saying that it will be Xbox 3.5. We won't know for a few more months at GDC or E3 if this is true.

I am going to try and hang tight once these release to see how the first few months go. I am weak and might break sooner than I think, but I want to try and wait it out like I just did with the Wii U.

I've tried to hold back a few times over the last 20 years. I thought the PS Vita was going to be the first big system I passed on. You're one of the reasons I wasn't able to hold back....

I think the PS4 and XBox 720 will be day one purchases for me. Very few things you can buy do you get 5+ years of use out of. Even at $500 if you keep the system for 5 years youre paying .27 cents per day.

                That's quite a nice breakdown.

I'm getting both systems day one as well but that breakdown just cracked me up.

Probably so but a cop out reason IMO.

They said they "Built Madden this gen from the ground up" and that was total BS. Either that or they managed to program the exact same glitches (RB Icon glitch for one) into this gen also with Madden 06...

New "team" so I have high hopes.

Never thought I would say this, but I agree...I will not pay any outrages price again..yes I was a flip flopper now I own both, and trying to swap and sell and come out behind sometimes. I refuse to do that ever again...plus The Vita gets almost all my gaming time as it is right now, if more great games keep coming it will stay that way..trust me

I am definitely getting the next Xbox only, but when is the thing. If its around 400 or a little more then I will start my pre-order and pay on it by the time its release. 500-600 i'll have to think about it simply because i'm sure in a few months it will be cheaper. Very exciting time for sure...Major Nelson has a count down till E3 right now

                          I'm kinda expecting a ~$199-299 less-capable box (a Blu-Ray player w/ Xbox Live? Maybe play 360 games?) and a $499-$599 next gen Xbox.

Microsoft buys media-streaming, home automation tech for Xbox

Microsoft has bought promising startup R2 Studios, which has previously worked on media-streaming and space-age home automation technology.

The freshly-inked deal will see R2 Studios' patents put to work in Microsoft's Xbox division, Wall Street Journal reports.

Microsoft did not disclose how much it paid for R2 Studios, although the report states that technology rivals Google and Apple were also courting the company.

Less than two years old, R2 Studios is headed up by Blake Krikorian, creator of TV-streaming service Slingbox. The business had been working on top-secret technology for displaying digital media on TVs.

It had also previously dabbled in futuristic home automation, and released an Android app that let users remotely control their home's heating and lighting.

Could R2 Studio's technology be used in the next Xbox powered by Kinect 2? Microsoft is expected to announce details of its new console this year, with a release expected in time for 2013's busy holiday season.
