Atmos is spatial audio, lets audio designers position sounds above you at any point rather than coming right from a speaker. This is done frequently by bouncing audio off the ceiling, or having a large array of speakers (in theaters, like 60 ceiling speakers...)

I have 2 speakers sitting on my tower speakers, bouncing audio off of my ceiling. If they were better dialed in they'd sound better, but I get some of the effect and it adds more height to the wall of audio coming at me.
I enabled the update last night, but it seems like I have a half second delay in audio that I need to figure out how to adjust.
