That's very good insight for someone not directly in the industry/Xbox
My job/team is fine. Very secure. E3 is about games, for sure.
The new UI is coming out this Holiday and will hit preview before then. I bet we'll have updates and news stories with how it's changing, so you'll learn more then. It's also a work in progress and we have a grand vision that likely won't be realized all at once.
Great...and I read way too much online (more than I game, honestly lol), so completely understand how MS has to shy away from the stuff that got them massacred in 2013...I really feel that Phil gets it and has been steering the ship in the right direction for a while now.
Plus I love my TV stuff, even when everyone else rails on Kinect....Skype is priceless by itself if you have kids and chat with family often.
Microsoft has built an new emulator for its Windows-powered Xbox One console to allow backwards compatibility.
If it's actually emulation, why are you calling it backward compatibility? We call it backward compatibility because gamers can play select Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One. However, referring to this functionality as an emulator is more accurate from a technology perspective since the Xbox One is not technically reading and playing the 360 game off of a disc.
Yeah, the question had more to do with the marketing of the technology. I think Microsoft chose wisely when they listed the One as backwards compatible, even if the technology is an emulator.

Me too, man. There's nothing better than going to the man cave and snapping sports while playing a game. I also love the utility features of Kinect. I don't care if they never use it for gaming. I cannot wait for the new dash and Cortana to arrive. The voice commands should be much more reliable with it.

It's a digital service just like PSNow that isn't crappy, unlike PSNow. I wouldn't even call it emulation.
Emulation and backwards compatible are the same thing. The fact that they're getting away with calling it backwards compatible isn't right.
You can't play a game from a disc. The only reason people aren't laughing at this like they laughed at PSNow is because it's free and they called it backwards compatibility.
IF they have a game on the service you can download it. Don't get me wrong, it's a great thing - but it's not backwards compatibility at all.
