I want a 1TB version, did you trade in or sell your old XboxONE? How much did you get for it?

I have a white xbox one and put that in the bedroom for occasional gaming and media

I just bought the 1tb from game stop full price. Hate that right off the bat you have only 740gb only after the OS takes the rest

So you are not really getting 1tb or close to it. But much better then 500gb that you actually get 380 or so

I just hope gamestop honors the free game...I doubt it and it will piss me off for sure

        Re: Xbox One

Why didn't you just wait until tomorrow to buy the 1TB Xbox One when the free game kicks in? I would be shocked if Gamestop or any retail store honors that when it doesn't start until tomorrow.

Only 740GB left? That's not that much better. Not sure if it can be done but if so, you probably would have been better off just buying a 2TB hard drive instead and installing into the Xbox One.

And I realize that the only reason people want bigger hard drives is because they keep buying games digitally which when each one is 30-50GB in size, yeah, the hard drive is going to get filled up quickly. I'm against digital over disc and it's a shame how gamers don't see that they're playing right into the hands of Microsoft, Sony, third parties by buying games digitally. Once games go only digital, I guarantee that the industry will crash for one simple reason - no competition. You either buy the game for the full retail price, wait for a sale (good luck) or don't play the game at all.

A perfect example for me would be Zombie Army Trilogy. It was 20% off at launch but that was still $40 for a digital game that I may end up not liking or enjoying. No way am I spending that and have "lowered" my maximum price for digital games to $10(Indies/XBLA/PSN) because I have realized that the majority of them are not worth the price. Back to the Zombie game, it's coming out on disc on July 21st. With my 20% off thanks to Best Buy's GCU, the game will cost me $40 but best of all, once im finished with the game, I can trade it in.

The point is that after launch week, the game hasn't been on sale once yet. This will be a permanent thing if/when gaming goes all digital. Gamers will be completely screwed over. Even now, the "sales" are a joke as you can always get them cheaper on disc. Sad part is that digitally, games have no monetary value at all and are virtually worthless so if you buy a game (and im sure many gamers have) digitally and you wish you didn't, this is exactly what will happen if/when gaming goes all digital.

Sorry about the rant. It's not directed at Microsoft but at gaming in general. As much as I love my PS4, if Sony was to ever go all digital, they could kiss my *** too. Really wish gamers would research buying digitally before actually doing it as they don't realize they're only going to screw yourselves over in the long run.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the 1TB console and that new controller as it's said to be better than the original controller. And I hope that you actually get your free game tomorrow.

Should I feel good or bad about my own timing of getting an Xbox One ~3-4 weeks ago, lol:

          500 GB MCC Bundle: 350
          2nd Controller and 1 yr Gold - 100 (I think)
          EA Access - 30
          Forza Horizon 2 - 60
3 TB external Hard drive - FREE

Going back and forth on buyers remorse, lol

The extra space is better either way. Digital or not you are using the same amount of space.

Remember that if you're game sharing with other people, the digital games are all half price. If you're paying full price then I agree, don't buy digital unless its a game you're going to keep for a year.

I would only buy a digital game if they were giving it away. $10 and under.

That's a good deal. EA Access gets you, I believe, 12-15 games in the vault to play. The external hard drive for free is a great score, too.

Okay I feel much better now; had to hear it from a fellow OS'er, lol. Happy to own both consoles and EA access is pretty fantastic and I hope it doesn't go away or change for the worst.

Gamestop said that they would honor the free game since I just bought it if they run the sale sunday. He said they have not been told but then again so did Best Buy as they told me they are not sure

I am 100% sure that gamestop and best buy will have that deal and anybody who bought the console within the last week will get that honored. 100% sure about it.

This right here!!! For a guy that hates swapping disk and I also share with my sons, digital is the perfect option for me.

Mass Effect's performance is currently pretty bad. Still work to be done, and probably why there's only a small number of games in the preview program.

Digital Foundry vs Xbox One backwards compatibility

When Microsoft announced that backwards compatibility would be hitting the Xbox One this year our collective jaws hit the floor. Even factoring out the effort involved in mapping the Xbox 360's GPU functions to entirely different Xbox One hardware, the idea of translating the 360's tri-core 3.2GHz PowerPC CPU to six low-power x86 Jaguar cores seems like a herculean task - yet somehow the engineering team has delivered.
For example, a potential boon is the fact that all Xbox 360 games running on Xbox One have no screen-tear whatsoever. Titles that previously exhibited those artefacts now operate with v-sync engaged at all times. On paper, this seems like a killer feature, but there are some consequences to this 'improvement' in terms of frame-rate.
                              Mass Effect

On the positive side, we note a nice improvement in both loading times and texture streaming performance.
                              ...
As it stands, during both exploration and combat sequences, the game runs upwards of 30 per cent slower on Xbox One with a deviation ranging between 5-10fps at any random point. What was already a sluggish experience on original hardware becomes nearly unplayable at points on Xbox One. During an explosive encounter during the train sequence in the first mission, we encountered dips as low as 10fps.
Right now, as you might expect from early preview code, the virtual machine works and the fact that it does work is simply astonishing. However, as impressive as that is, there are a number of issues. Looking at Mass Effect in particular, we can't help but wonder whether the current CPU virtualisation is as fast as it should be. Clearly there is more work to do, but with a full release due later this year, the engineers still have plenty of time to polish things up. Even considering its current flaws, the state of the virtual machine's capabilities is remarkable: those precious few moments when performance actually exceeds the Xbox 360 gives us just a bit of hope that in the long run, we may actually end up with an improved experience in some games.

I played an hour or so of mass effect. Didn't really notice anything wrong with it.
