Are the battery packs the same on the XB1 controllers as they are on the 360?

I am going to upgrade to an XB1 in a couple months. I have two battery packs, with a charging dock that you can put the whole controller on to charge. I love it, those battery packs last forever.

Just wondering if I'll be able to keep it and use it on XB1 controllers?

I'm sure the answer is no, but I figured I'd at least ask!

I don't think anyone has answered you yet with all the preview invite chatter going on here, so thought I would. If someone already has, sorry...

However, no the battery packs are not compatible. You will need to purchase the play and charge controllers for the XB1. There are some third party charging stations available, but if you buy the play and charge controller it comes with a rechargeable battery pack and a USB cable and you can just use the cable and console to charge it.

I have to laugh at the idea some claim that MS is so desperate that they cut this EA deal. This was probably in the works for a while.

I think it's a great addition. I will always go back to what they said from the beginning. This is a marathon. Look at the 360 and what a great life cycle it had. There is much to look forward to.

If you don't want to play M25 and FIFA 14 this late in the stage, good for you. I got it for $30 bucks a year, you talking about each game should be $20 by now...Really?

Well none of them were 20 bucks but Madden game close being a sports title...

But at these prices from our largest game stores....Seems like $30 a year is a steal, I can beat and be done with it and uninstall it, and my membership is good for later additions of games...I don't see the big deal, plus getting 10% off all the DLC on BF4 is great, considering the servers are still loaded full of people 8 months later...Especially since HL has been delayed, I can see people continuing to play this through 2015...

So no loss there either....

Anyways stop comparing it to PS Plus and XBL Gold...EA Access is it's own things, be happy we got it....

Agreed. Quite honestly, im not a fan of EA but this is a great deal thus far. Hopefully, EA doesnt screw it up.

No. This isn't how this forum works.

If a person thinks EA Access isn't great value or otherwise wants to offer a criticism of the service - personally, I don't think it's tremendous value and I won't until the free game backlog is larger and has plenty of non-sports games - said person is allowed and encouraged to voice that opinion constructively.

Nothing wrong with having a opinion but bashing the service in every thread that Steve posted is bad, and now it's mentioned in the Xbox Thread and the hatred comparing to PS Plus etc isn't right.

That was my point, but it's cool..I was just stating my opinion that it's a value for what they have so far and I'm sure more and better games will follow, it's just the beginning and not a bad beginning...

EA Access is downright stupid, but so is Sony for not having it.



On the monthly updates... well... Sony got hammered for doing PS3 updates often, so towards the end of the life cycle they said they were moving away from that and that's why they don't do it anymore.



Not gonna disagree about MS doing more right. Both companies have a lot of work to do still, though, Sony is just in a better place currently.

You get to play old games. If you enjoy playing years old sports titles and other games, go for it.



With PSPlus, and now XBox Live Gold hopping on the train, there isn't any reason to give EA money to play old games.



The early access isn't you get the games 5 days early. You get to play the game for a few hours, up to 5 days early. Your save will carry over.



The only thing that sounds nice is the 10% off, if you buy a bunch of EA extras. Then it's a good deal. Otherwise it's just giving hard-earned money to a company that doesn't deserve it.

For $2.50 a month when you pay for the $30 a year you get access to some games that are still fun and playable and you get 5 days earlier access to games to try out before you buy it. I still don't see how this is a stupid thing. And, years old games? I thought these consoles only had 8 months out? The way things are going I don't know if Sony is going to remain in the better position, but what does that have anything to do with the EA access? Sometimes I don't know if I'm in the Xbox forums.

Quick question. ... I registered my xbox with the preview program ( thanks smiley for the invite). Now I assume I need to wait until Microsoft pushes out the update to my xbox. Is that correct? Also, is ea access part of the update or do I need to download it from the store?

I agree.

Ability to trade/sell games sooner for those who do it (and who like to keep the game all the way until the next release comes out) to make a few extra dollars.

Have access to those games for (ever? since it is a download and not streaming there doesnt seem to be a reason for them to be removed) if they ever want to go back and play them.

10% off might not be a great deal since you can find better retail values (BB gamers club, or various places offering preorder bonues) however 10% off DLC cannot be beat for those who buy it.

Playing games early - yes this one is still up in the air, but nothing has been confirmed other than "at least a couple hours". One would have to assume the couple hours is for the single player games, otherwise someone could finish the game in the 5 day preview and never buy. You would have to assume the sports games will work the same as the program they had on last gen...I am sure they would give at least 3 days, if not the full 5, to play the sports games.

To not see the value and not buy, I can understand. To call it stupid when others see value in it, I cannot. Every company is about earning money. If they find a way to make more while giving value to those who see it that way (and the majority seems to), good for them.

And as far as the updates...PS3 took a while to download and install. Seemed every time I turned it on I had to wait for the download and installation that didnt add new "features". While that is all and good, it can be annoying to people to have to wait for that and not see any noticeable results. I am in software development, and while when I push updates they don't take long at all to download and install (usually 10mb or less) unless a much needed bug fix which was needed ASAP I always try to include a change that the users will notice so they think they are getting something useful for the update. And with the One...each update has added noticeable changes. Not to mention they download and install in the background with no user interaction. Even the PS4 while it downloads the updates in the background, still needs the user to accept the install and wait.

I did the same (thanks from me to smiley too). Opened the message that was sent from MS, accepted a few things and a preview app download. Then it looks like I am in pending status (I assume that is where you are too.) So from here I assume it is a wait to receive the update push from MS.

To those who are in it, I see friends/chat/party don't work with friends who don't have it? Do you all simply send the preview to your friends? Not accept an upcoming preview download when planning to play with freinds in a given week?

And also, how soon in advance to you get them usually? A couple weeks/days?
