OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread

Hey guys, since there seems to be a pretty healthy conversation going on in the PS4/Next 360 thread, figured we ought to have our own little piece of the OS pie so to speak

Post away about any of your PC happenings. Computer questions related to gaming, post away. We have the Steam Deals thread in the Other Gaming Section, but post for any other gaming topics!

Yea good idea, we were derailing the PS4/720 thread pretty quick.

With that said, anyone of you PC boys down for some Left 4 Dead 2 some time?

Does that still have a good PC following? I got into L4D on the 360 before I built my new PC and never got around to buying it on Steam. I see its still $20, but I'm sure I've missed some deals where Valve sells it for $5.

I've recently been playing MLB 2K12 though. It looks great on maxed out settings, but I'm still trying to find a good slider set. Default All Star was way too easy. I took a perfect game into the 8th with Strasburg in my 2nd game and then in the very next game I threw a perfect game with Brandon McCarthy. Too bad that damn million dollar contest doesn't start until next week.

I've never played Left 4 Dead 2. I "may" pick it up if it goes on sale. I know I've seen it, maybe at $7.99 or $9.99, maybe less. Can't remember since Steam has so many crazy deals.

I know a bunch of people still play it on PC. I find games instantly. I have not put as many hours as my dad who plays it religiously, but I know from couple months ago when I last played it I had no problem finding a match. I have 45 hours played in L4D2, my dad has 212 lol.

Would be a blast to get some OS action going in it though.

@Sand, I am thinking of picking up FIFA 12 and "maybe" Virtua Tennis 4. I have The Show 12 on PS3 so going to rock that rather than MLB2k12.

Have it installing right now Candy. I absolutely LOVE watching it at 1080P on the plasma. Very nice looking game. Especially when you start w/ the stadium shadow mods, etc.

I had 2k10 for PC and it SUCKED!!! The online service never worked and when you did get into a game you would be dropped within a few mins from the "In the key bug" that caused loss of connection. So people tried to not drive the lane = 2kbasketball on consoles for me from there on out LOL

Nice, does it run much smoother than the consoles? I can't wait to replace this CPU, my old setup will be going to the kids.

How is gigabyte these days for mobo's? I was thinking between Asus and Gigabyte, possibly a Z68 so I have room to upgrade plus I was reading Ivy Bridge might be compatible with the Z68 mobo's but nothing confirmed that I can find.

I had a stretch where I had nothing but issues with Asus, weird blue screens for no reason, odd CTD, and just instabilities. I don't know how their new chipsets are, but I switched to ASRock and have had nothing but good things to say about them.

Not sure about Gigabyte, I have never run a board by them.

Yeah, my last few have been ASRock. The 990FX is great, as is the 970FX. I've had a couple of m-ATX boards from Gigabyte that were pretty solid, but if you can, try to grab a ASRock. The top tier Asus (RoG) are pretty good boards, but not worth the premium that you pay to get them.

Anyone know why newegg is no longer carrying OCZ ram?

I have the 4 gig OCA Reaper and would like to grab another 4 gigs of the same just for stability reasons. Yet I might have to go to a outside source for that, which sucks cause Newegg is the best.

It's easy to make your own now with the FXAA injector mods. Goes for any DX9 game.

I've read about people having some issues with the Asus Z68 mobo's. It looks like TigerDirect/CompUSA doesn't carry ASRock, did you get them from Newegg?

How is PNY with their video cards?

I picked up the EVGA 560 2GB GDDR5 card, ran a few things on it so far and runs games much much smoother than my GTS 250.

Which has framerate effects for those with lesser computers. The miracle jerseys and stadiums do not.
