I do something similar. Any game I'm currently playing via Steam I leave it on my SSD. If I get tired of it, I copy the game folder to my storage drive (2tb) and then delete it from Steam. If at some point I want to play that game again, I just copy the game folder back in, click install in steam, it does a check, and I have access to play the game again. Simple.Comment

I use SteamTool. Definitely something to install as soon as you get an SSD big enough to hold a few games. I have a 128 GB SSD so I can have probably 8 or 9 full size games on it. I only ever have about 4 or 5 though.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment
