Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Yeah, wish I had heard about this pending maintenance before today since I hadnt turned on my PS4 since prior to the 6th apparently as for the time being its nothing more then a paper weight. I love the PS4 and have had every Sony console released but they seem to have maintenance constantly and far more frequently then Microsoft does with the Xbox.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Kevin, let me ask you this. I've tossed around the plasma idea before but have always stayed LCD/LED because of it of use and in prevention of my wife destroying a good plasma.
For instance she has a horrible bad habit of pausing the DVR getting on phone, hell even leaving the house and the damn TV is stuck on pause for 45 min or however long it takes the DVR to shutdown from the idle timer. Because of this I've refrained from getting a plasma, I know they have a better picture. Now, I also know I could just try and talk to her to be more aware of not leaving the TV on pause, but figured it was easier to not deal with it and just go LED.
Reason I'm asking, we are going to be in the market for a 65-70" TV in the next couple months for the living room. Trying to decide which route should I go.
P.S. Isn't plasma dying off?
As far as plasma dying out goes, I believe Panasonic is no longer going to make plasmas. Correct me if I'm wrong though.Comment

Plasmas do seem to be dying off. Samsung seems to be it now since Panasonic is out. I tried the 65" Vizio LED and I don't know if I got a bad one or not, but I was not happy with the light that came from the edge. If you are going to get a large LED, don't get a cheap one. Get a top of the line one like the Samsungs, Sonys, Sharps, etc. Look into how the display is lit, that's the important thing. The next series of LEDs are suppose to be more advanced with the lighting, you want something called full array lighting or something like that, definitely not edge-lit on a large screen (what my Vizio was). The 2014 line of Vizio TVs are suppose to fix the issue I had, so maybe they will be a good option, I just know I wasn't happy with the one I got. I do have a 42" Vizio that I am happy with, so I think it was just the size of the one I had along with the lesser quality edge-let technology that did me in.
Me personally, I have no issues taking something back to a store. So I buy TVs from Best Buy rather than online retailers. I have the Best Buy Premier account which gives me 45 days to return a TV. So I buy the TV and I 100% make sure I am happy with it, and if I'm not, I have no problem making Best Buy come to my house and swap the TV out (which they will do). For me, the key to finding the TV for yourself is putting it in your own house and test it out there over a couple weeks. It took me about 4 days with that 65" Vizio before I started seeing the flaws that I couldn't get past. And this is definitely without going online and reading bug threads just like we have hear for games, you'll never be happy if you do that! lol But after I saw the flaws in my set I did go to the forums and read unhappy reviews to understand what I was seeing and what was causing it. It definitely helped me when picking out my new set.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Agreed. I guess they can because you can't get PS3 games on your PS4 any other way, but if you really wanted to play PS3 games that bad you could get a PS3 off of Craigslist/Ebay for cheap and then red box PS3 games.Comment

I wonder if they'll do any monthly/year subscriptions for the service. It will be interesting to see how the service does as I feel like that's where they'll be pushing the gaming industry towards.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I used to be scared of burn in problems on the plasmas, but I've had them for about 5 years now and I've over that now. My DirecTV DVRs have screen saves that come on, so that is good because I leave them paused for long amounts of time. Just a couple weeks ago with my brand new one I accidentally turned it on with my smart phone and it had a static image on it for a few hours before I realized it, no harm done. So I really don't worry about it. I've played lots of games on my plasmas that have static health bars and stuff, but games have so many cutscenes these days, nothing is really static anymore. I just love the plasmas I have, that's why I went back to them after getting a LED set that I wasn't happy with. I had to go back to something I trusted in. I know it was just the TV I got, and not indicative of LEDs in general.

I'm leaning plasma, what are some good plasma's out there in the sub $1400 range? Also is sammy worthy in the plasma race or is panasonic the only logically choice? Reason I say that, that will decide how soon I need to pull trigger since I believe all panasonic plasmas will be gone come May 2014.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Yea I've always been a Sammy fan. I tried LG once and had so much corner bleeding it drove me nuts and I then went to a Sony Bravia which I really like. Granted I've never owned a plasma so I don't have much to base my LCD/LEDs against in that regard but of course I've heard all the positives that plasma's bring to the table when it comes to picture quality.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I'm not sure I could put that on my controllers, aside from the general look of it being covered in red nerf foam (is it for use in correctional facilities so someone can't beat a fellow inmate with it?) the way it removes some of the depth on the buttons and im not sure how that d-pad would feel.Comment

I've had my 50" Panasonic Plasma for a solid 4 years without a single issue, love the TV and the picture is still as good as it was the day I bought it.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I love the PS4 controller but the main problem for me is the rubber is to soft and wears down and tears. My left stick which get's the most action has worn down and is rather beat up, wish they were more durable. May pick up some thumb grips soon to see how they fair."If you don't have anything good to say, say it often"- Ed the sockComment

I still am not totally sure what you guys do to your controllers.
Both of mine look the same as the day I bought them. And it's not for lack of play.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn
