Heh, this will swing the argument back the other way potentially. Apparently in the US there will only be a $499 bundle available for preorder, which bundles a game, helmet, camera and 2 move controllers.

Not liking this, buying a console is already an investment now we're going the iPhone route? I mean I guess if they make a deal for upgrading but if my still relatively new next gen console becomes outdated already I'm not going to be very happy and if this is going to be the new trend for consoles I'll be going strictly PC so I can just do my own upgrades at my own pace.

In regards to PS4.5, Sony needs to be real careful because as easy as it was to get 40m users with PS4, it can just as easily go the other way if you start screwing over the consumers. Releasing an upgraded PS4 would be like Sega back in the Genesis days when they released the Sega CD and 32X. You're basically alienating those who already have the console itself and to get extra benefits, have to purchase an add-on or in this case, an entire console at the same damn price of $400.

And if im Microsoft, I wouldn't be quitting or giving up just yet because doing stupid crap tends to piss consumers off and go with the other console. Microsoft obviously knows this but more importantly, Sony should know this from their PS3 launch. Seriously, Sony is starting to **** up and while I easily prefer PS4 over Xbox One, I would have no problem switching over next gen if Sony screws up.

Sony should NOT release PS4.5 of any kind. Should focus instead on PS5 to do all that stuff. Not screw over consumers who bought PS4 which includes a very high amount of those who came over from Xbox 360 and why did those consumers switch over?? Because they felt like they were going to get screwed over and not in a good way.

Be careful, very careful Sony.

Sony is in the business besides gaming entertainment. Among other things they sell is TVs. <b>Unless your upgrading your TV to 4K you won't need a PS4.5.</b> Sony screwed up by not putting in that feature before hand. 4K TV prices are dropping. If they don't jump on that technology service now and wait untill a PS5 they're being delinquent to their shareholders and the 4k consumers. The processing power is already part of the VR package for the current model.

I don't even want to see a PS5 until they give me some games that give me faith in buying a PS5 the way the PS3 library did with the PS4.

Coming up on 3 years in and I still feel like there's a shallow offering of games.

Yea I'm not in the market for a 4K TV yet but if I was, I wouldn't mind knowing that I could get a PS4.5 if I wanted to.

The PS4 can stream movies to your TV. Sony is realizing they're missing a major opportunity of streaming in 4K with the current PS4 model. They would be idiots if they didn't at least offer you a choice.

I want an upgraded PS4 that can run 4K. I'm strictly, selfishly speaking for myself of course.

If this released next month I'd buy two of em.

I really don't see upgraded consoles doing well for Microsoft and Sony. I don't really see who its for. People buy consoles because its meant to last them 5-7 years until the next generation. Anyone really invested into playing on the most up to date hardware is playing on a PC.

If they both go this way with incremental upgrades every few years I'll probably just be on PC going forward, with the occasional Nintendo.
