    PlayStation 4 Discussion

We also have to remember how these companies use the media... Things leak because companies want them to. It's a simple way to test how the market might react to something.

Sony isn't deaf to social media. Someone told someone to tell someone who knew someone about a little tiny rumor that Sony could do something like this. Now Sony can sit back and watch how the world responds. It's essentially a free focus group/survey, and it happens all the time.

Personally, I'm with the consensus that believes, at best, we get a slim revision that supports some type of 4K but is in no way necessary for anyone who already owns the system. It won't be any different than last gen's slim models offering up better wifi or power consumption. A theoretically superior, but ultimately unnecessary upgrade for current owners.

Even if it was just what you mentioned I'd still be all over it in a heartbeat.

I'm not trying to buy another tv just because. There is no normal tv content in 4k, which simply makes it not that needed right now. No way I need to spend a grand or even 800 for a brand new tv to play a videogame on a system which I already have, that would cost me another 600 to add extras.

Really, there is little justification to the general public beyond some enthusiast stuff right now. Even if 3D is done, this could be as weak popularity wise as all of the move/kinect stuff.
Here is the thing though, you do not need a 4K tv to play a new updated even if what I said stands that is not going to happen till next gen. I have a samsung 4K tv and do not use it for pc gaming. I rock my xbox one and ps4 there with games being from 720p to 1080p and it looks just as sweet as it does on your 1080p tv

I bought the 4K for future proof and because Amazon and Netflix content is growing a lot for 4K and in the future when I decide to get a gaming pc or future next gen consoles, I will be ready for that but I have zero issues playing on 4K tv with my current consoles

Sony and MS will not be releasing any 4K gaming machines for a long long time. That you guys can take to the bank

So did anyone order the VR bundle? I'm waiting for the solo headset.

It lasted 4 minutes on Amazon before it sold out. If people are spending $300+ for early release games, I wonder what the write-up would have been for this baby.

I'll consider PSVR towards the end of the generation, once price has lowered a little and know how future proof the purchase would be. If they announced PC support and perhaps supporting SteamVR along w/ the Vive I'd have probably preordered it today instead of the Vive this weekend.

Surprised Sony shutdown Evolution Studios because despite the bad launch of DriveClub, over the last year and a half, they have completely turned that game around and even added DLC a few months ago.

Personally, I think that Sony passed on Ready at Dawn and shutdown Evolution Studios to even out the cost of PSVR. Obviously, in order to spend money on one aspect, other aspects would have to be sacrificed. Either way, very surprising decision.

They were even working on VR implementation for DriveClub that they showed off last week. Weird.

First, Lionhead Studios by Microsoft and now Evolution from Sony? Both studios from the United Kingdom. Does anyone see or know something else?

Both were heavily invested in troubled projects is the more relevant common thread IMO. Fable Legends has been reimagined a few times I thought (though I was looking forward to playing it with friends, beta is kinda fun cash shop aside) and despite the stellar support Driveclub's launch is one of the worst of all time and had irrecoverably bad PR between that and the w/ the PS+ edition debacle.

Agreed 100%, I mean we are still only getting broadcast in 720P/1080i, 1080p is still far , far away from being broadcast, When 4k is broadcasting in TV then Ill be interested, I may be 80 years old by then. I mean I'm still waiting for broacasting 1080p.

I was debating it as well but decided to hold off since the price is a bit high for me. I will probably pull the trigger sometime in 2017.

I will probably never buy the VR and I won't be getting a 4K TV anytime soon. I love gaming on my monitor and don't think I could go back.

I also see the VR as a gimmick but if some people are into that, that's cool.

The reason why cable tv will take a long time or might never be 1080p or 4k is due to the bandwith it requires. Their channels also are heavily compressed and image is nowhere near as it should be for 720p or 1080i

Full HD and 4k and 8K are more for streaming, gaming, and blu ray uhd
