      Time to build a PC?

      "Graphics heavy games."

I'm assuming that means all triple-A releases.

      What a joke.

Same here. And to those getting mad about it, why? Nothing is different if you don't get it. It isn't a new gen, you aren't being left behind.

This isn't any different than what xbox 360 did. It released just before a new tv technology became somewhat mainstream. They are releasing an updated console that can use it.

Released in 2005, most people still had tube tvs. Main connection was AV or component, capable of 1080i (though VGA was an option for 1080p.) As HDTV became more of a "thing" they released a new model with HDMI in 2007 so it was capable of outputting in 1080p. However games were simply up scaled to 1080p (were there any that were native by the end of the life cycle? I couldn't find a list)...however you got 1080p for streaming movies.

        for me:
        2005 - I had a tube tv.
2006 - I got an HDTV, but it was only 720p/1080i, so I didn't upgrade my 360 in 2007 when the hdmi version was released.
        2010 - I got a 1080p set and got a new 360 capable of 1080p.

No harm was done by not upgrading until I had a set to do so.

Same thing now for the ps4...4k are starting to become more main stream a couple years after release so like the 360, releasing an updated model capable of using it. And again not powerful enough for 4k native, so upscale games and give streaming services 4k.

I bought a 4k tv last year so i would be all over this. If I didn't get the tv, then like last gen with the 360 I would wait until I got one. And i wouldn't be missing out on anything if i didn't (except in this case if you are into VR and it supposedly can push better framerate according to the know video.)

This is so true. You aren't missing anything if you don't buy the new system. It's like Sony and MS releasing a slimmer model. When I finally got my PS3 (went with Xbox because my cousin had one) I got the slimmer model because it was really the only one I could find. But I don't feel like I really missed out on anything because the backwards compatible stuff didn't matter to me as I still my PS2 so I could my games on that. And if I were to get a PS4 I would probably get a PS4 not 4.5 because I don't have a 4K tv or have any interest in VR. So I don't get why people are so fussed about it. And it's not like they are screwing their 40 million user base either. The games will still be playable on the PS4 and probably be real similar to the 4.5 because of the cost to develop a 4K game. So if anything they really would be screwing over the 4.5 users because they aren't getting any games with a 4K resolution just the streaming content.

            Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

The Xbox 360 revision changed an input. The PS4k or whatever it may end up being called is actually more powerful.

'Not missing anything' probably won't be true. There's no way that games won't have better framerates and performance on a newer model with more horsepower, which it will have to have because rendering to 4k isn't free if that's indeed the goal. Unless it's just scaling it, which then means it doesn't improve the VR experience other than incorporating the PU into the PS4.

Good argument and roughly good comparison anyways, but I'd be hesitant on the not missing out' bit for now.

I'll echo what "Mestevo" said. From the article and what I'm hearing, it sounds very much like the PS4.5 will be more powerful and games in the future will run better on it.

Personally I don't care because I will definitely be buying Day 1 and pre-ordering if and whenever possible.

For the record, if I ever get a second PS4, I'd hold off and wait for this one (much like I did when I got a PS3 slim). But I will never trade in my current PS4 for it, nor would I get it "unnecessarily." I would only get it if my current vested plans were to get another PS4, and/or a 4K BDP.

Im in the market for another PS4 to go with my 4K tv. I was looking at getting a 4K BD Player but I think I will just hold off to see what comes of this PS4.

So I'm currently not home but my ps4 is in standby. My question is if I buy a game from the store right now off my phone can I have it start downloading on my ps4?

Yes. There should be a "Download to PS4" button in the store after you complete the purchase. It always works for me, but from what I've seen others comment, YMMV.

I don't think it starts immediately, at least for me - I usually have to power off/on my PS4/Vita whenever I make a web store purchase.

If it's on standby I don't know if it will turn on by itself to start that download - I kinda doubt it would.

Trade in/up deal is what this hinges on for me. I have no problem with doing that if there's a good enough reason to.
