I am extremely surprised that both consoles are using less than 16 gig of ram to be honest. Ram being so cheap, you would think they would want to stay on par with top in gaming machines at least for the first couple years. Granted the 8 cores plays a much larger role, but supplying plenty of ram seems like a given in my eyes.

I'm only getting one next gen console this time. Started with the 360, but got tired of it and got a PS3 recently.

This time i'm getting on the PS4 train early.

RAM was cheap at the start of the current gen of consoles and they only went with 256 and 512 (? are those number right?) most gaming pcs dont need 16 gigs of ram why would you put 16 in a console that isnt going to be performing as many operations simultaneously as a pc would?

I remember a lot of developers saying ram limitations were part of some problems this generation. While I'm not saying it will be a issue on release day, I'm saying mid cycle of the console generation are you going to be hearing the same complaints of lack of ram from developers?

Memories. I remember pre-ordering the first Playstation, and being the first in line that Saturday Morning at Babbages. If I remember right I got Gameday, Wipeout, and the Extreme Sports game. Very exciting day.

Yep, time to start saving. It's hard to believe another set of consoles are already on their way, but man, do I think it will be good for the industry. I think this generation got a little bit away from what core gaming is all about with all of the peripherals, so I'm thinking both Sony and Microsoft will go back to the basics.

I haven't owned a Sony system, but I may get the PS4. I don't buy more than 1 system, so I'll wait until games come out to make my mind up, but right now I'm leaning to towards the PS4. The architecture change and the more powerful system should make it last longer at the top. Microsoft wants to do more than playing games and that is going to hurt the main point of the system, PLAYING games.
