PS4 Pros 5ghz wireless is fast as heck, the regular PS4, nope, wouldn't use it.

I've heard you shouldn't go by that, go to the internet browser and do a test from a website to get an accurate speedtest.

If you're getting over 50mbps I wouldn't worry that's very good..... I get fast speeds and it still takes me awhile to download digital games....I think it's on Sonys end

Wireless on my PS4 Pro on the living room and also wireless on my PS4 Slim in my bedroom.

                Both hella fast, no issues.

If you have the PS4 Pro just make sure you are connecting to the wireless network from your router that is the 5ghz network is all. I was getting really fast speeds, I think like wired speeds when I used my 5ghz network.

This is actually, for some folks, a really valid reason to upgrade from the PS4 to the PS4 Pro since it adds the ability to use the 5ghz wireless.

Yeah I just think some of it is bottlenecked by Sony as well..It's like they throttle you or something.

Keeps failing when I try to connect to 5ghz network.

                      Edit:

                      Okay. Weird one -

If I got to set up internet connection and I choose 5ghz user it fails to obtain IP address. But I am online! And if I check View Connection Status it shows I'm connected to the 5ghz. Weird.

I am in same room as router so I should always go 5ghz connection?

My PS Pro is wireless and I get nice speeds. My router was like $400 so I'm sure that helps.

Yeah that is weird. You definitely should use the 5ghz because the only downfall of it is if you are too far away. You will get 3x or better speeds using 5ghz over the lower speed.

I have always been wireless and it used to take like forever to download any thing like even a 1 GB patch. I got a slim ps4 like 7-8 months or so ago when there was trade in value and ps4 slim cost 250 and best buy was also doing like a spend 100 save 25 so with that and the trade in value I really only spent like 70 and got a game to in uncharted 4. Slim and pro both have better wifi speeds then regular ps4 and I have notices with the faster better wifi and also the fact I moved out on my own back like 6 months ago and have better internet then I used to that things can down load pretty fast. I have heard that the wifi is like 2 times has fast has ps4 regular and with also having a better internet I would say really things download about 4 times has fast has they used to maybe even faster.

I've always been wireless and the PS4 Slim is better with the 5 GHz. The download speeds are an issue with Sony though as both wired and wireless aren't as fast as they should.

Brandin - do a firmware update on your router if you are having trouble with the 5 GHz. I couldn't connect with my TP Link Router at first and tried everything (except that) but that's all it needed.

Yeah the router you have makes all the difference in the world. If your ISP gives you speeds of 250 or less (possibly up to 500), if you have the right router you will see little to no difference between hard wired and wireless. Sure dropped packets and latency can potentially be slightly worse on wireless, but I don't think it is anything to worry about unless you are in some tournament for money or something.

I think a lot of people are too quick to jump on the "avoid wireless at all costs" bandwagon.
