I just picked a PS4 Pro the other day. I currently have it going through Denon surround receiver then onto my Sony 4k tv. I can get to the PS4 home screen with no issues. When I click MLB 17 to start the game, my Sony tv shuts off and the status light keeps blinking red until I unplug my TV. I have an XBOX One X hooked up as well and don't have any issues with it. Has anyone come across this before? is there a setting on the PS4 or my TV I should be using?Comment

So, 5.50 and the new supersampling option is out. I can definitely notice a difference when it's on with my 1080p TV, but usually at with a heavy hit to the framerate. Interestingly, I can now choose from the "Favor Performance/Resolution" options in EA UFC, whereas I did not have that option before the update. I'm assuming that's because the supersampling option spoofs the TV settings to make it look like I have a 4K TV. Game drops to 30 FPS lock (estimated) instead of 60 with the favor resolution option on.
And, for the first time, there is a noticeable difference for The Show '17 in what the 3 video options do. 4K of course looks the best, but it runs absolutely awful - if that's what the true 4k guys were dealing with this past year, my sympathies. Enhanced Visuals is a nice in-between while High-Frame Rate more or less looks the same as what I'm used to.
The supersampling option cannot be changed mid-game - it will close any game running if you try to change it.
I'll try some more games after the SDS stream - that has my full attention for the next hour or so.

So, right now the biggest place I'm noticing the supersampling image quality gains is in super-imposed graphics over the game screen - which most of us as sports fans are VERY familiar with. NBA 2K18 has perhaps the most improvement with the smallest performance hit out of the games I've played - I really can't tell a difference in gameplay (good or bad), but the numerous overlays and graphics displays shown on screen are almost completely jaggy-free now. Madden 18 is one of the few where I can tell an image improvement on the actual player models and field, but that comes at a very noticeable cost - the game loses its 60 FPS in off-play scenes and looks more like previous years's games at those times (though it's still very smooth during the actual gameplay, if not 60 then very close). As has been said about this option, it's a tradeoff.
Also in Show 17, turning on Enhanced Visuals and going to closed-roof Skydome brought back my PTSD from '16 of lowered framerate while batting(perhaps not AS bad as 16, but still there). Even with the Supersampling option on though, going to the High Frame Rate mode option inside '17 fixed that instantly. By contrast, I can play at Kauffmann without any apparent frame drop at all on Enhanced Visuals, so it still varies by stadium.Last edited by bcruise; 03-08-2018, 11:59 PM.Comment

I was having some controller issues before and after this update - different ones from what was mentioned though. Basically, it was acting as though my controller was un-paired - the light on the controller would just blink for a short time and then go off, and no buttons on the controller would work. Safe mode fixed it one time, simply re-booting the console fixed it a different time.
Like I said this was happening to me before the patch, so I don't think I'm experiencing the same thing as what's being reported.Comment

All audio from the DS4 when you plug in headphones is a game changer. I’m basically playing in silence to everyone else and get all the volume I want while playing.

It's crazy I just moved to a new apartment and I upgraded my FiOS for a special that they were running to 1GB speed and I got my PlayStation hard wired and I'm getting almost 800mps it's pretty sick, I had 50/50 before switching, and I downloaded a game the other day that I had bought prior, Just Cause 3 which is like 40 gigabytes and it installed in about 10 minutes I was blown away.

Hmmmm, I have this odd panel in my coat closet downstairs. I wonder how hard it’d be to hardwire my Pro.
One thing I do know is that I played PS4 on my MacBook for a little while all the way in SC while my Pro is about 4 hrs away in NC! Mind was literally blown.

Anyone playing R&C for the first time via PS+? Pretty fun.
As for Mighty No. 9....well, I'm glad I didn't have to pay anything (directly) for it. Gameplay's pretty unique even despite it being a very familiar genre, but I can see why it got widely panned.Comment
