I would think people that have the game on both ps4 and switch would be pretty low. I think most people if they buy a game on one system are not going to buy it on another system has they are going to fell like its just a waste of money to buy it again.

Fortnite is free though. So this doesn’t really apply to the post you quoted.

The problem is that people on Xbox/switch can play free Fortnite with all their cosmetic purchases and progress carrying over to each. They can hop back and forth. Sony locks all purchases to sony only and even worse once you play Fortnite on PS4 you can’t even use that epic account on any other platform.

Yeah the number of people who are gamers who buy a game on more than one system is very rare. I actually have only done it twice in the past five years (madden and diablo) and I buy a lot of games.



And I know of only one other friend of mine who has done it as well..it is just not very common at all.



So yeah it happens and that would be nice to have that ability but that's a very, very small group of people, almost statistically insignificant when it comes to setting up a policy to be of benefit to those folks.

Everyone I know that has an Xbox and switch plays Fortnite on both. It’s not rare at all.


They have received plenty of backlash over not letting people cross play/progress on a free game. Enough backlash so that it will absolutely change in the future. You can’t really ignore it. You guys saying not many people buy games for multiple consoles doesn’t apply here.

It will change when Sony releases PlayStation 5. Sony isn't going to change their stance with PlayStation 4 nor should they.

I think he was referring to the "losers" of the battle for market share, not calling MS/Nintendo or any of their supporters losers in a derogatory sense. Maybe I'm wrong but that's how I took it.

Don't really care about cross-play myself and whether it's a good/bad business or PR decision...just thought I'd share my thoughts on that brief exchange.

Either way looking at it like a winners/losers situation is pretty much what’s wrong with gaming today. The consumer losses when decisions like this are made. We are at the point where all gamers can play together in some cases and one company is holding that up because of greed. It is what it is.

Always thought it would be neat if I could see the platform exclusive cars when playing against them in Rocket League.

I don’t think you can since that could create an advantage for players.

I completely forgot that fortnite was free so yeah that makes a big difference. But yeah when it comes to rebuying a game on a different system I would say about the only time people do that is for remasters because its been years and big graphic upgrade. I have never bought the same game on multiple systems during the same gen before so like not a remaster and never will.

Same here. I don't care if they implement cross play or not. I don't play games online, or at least very, very rarely will I play a game online.

I don't care either, each platform has enough jerks to insult me, cuss at me or say racist stuff without having to pull in jerks from another platform.

Yeah, I took the NHL 3 on 3 beta out for a spin the day it came out and got some guy messaging me "PLAY YOUR POSITION *#*#*@*@!#@@@"

Thought it was funny, like it was some life or death league game or something.

P.S. I was about the only one playing my actual position Sort of made me think he sent a mass message to everyone on his team which makes it even more ridiculous

Since when has it really mattered to these big companies whether or not the consumer wins? It's definitely not anything new and certainly not an issue related to just gaming. It just seemed like some people were upset at the use of the word "losers" to refer to the companies that sold fewer units and IMO that's a strange thing to be concerned about. LOL...probably about as strange as me being concerned about it being strange...
