Playing on a 43" Sony X800D 4K HDR TV and using a PS4 Pro, HDR for me is my most important aspect in terms of visuals and graphics. Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy are in my opinion the top three games this generation when it comes to HDR. Trying to play any of the three with HDR off is a hell no for me.

For the console and the TV, I have everything set to "auto". Let the electronic devices detect it and figure it all out. Once you start messing around with everything, you'll most likely have problems.

Honestly, I have seen more stories and bad reports about HDR and not always looking good, In my personal opinion, I think HDR is a bit overatted and I have two 4K TV that do HDR. I don't think HDR has been master like customers think, but you will get guys who swear by it and defend it like crazy. I think it still think its a work in process.

Those stories are coming from people who think the tv box saying HDR means it must be mind blowing.

HDR is game changing if you have the tv with the correct specs for it.

Spider-Man and horizon zero dawn look absolutely amazing with hdr. I thought
last year’s The Show looked great too.

Spiderman to me had a so so HDR, it just oversaturated colors and was nothing special. Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War on the PS4 side had excellent hdr implementation

A tv that says HDR does not mean it is good HDR. If you want good HDR you are going to have to step up in price.

There is only 1 tv that is cheap in price that does good HDR and that is the TCL 6 series. But even then it does not match the higher end Samsung, OLED from LG and Sony or high end Sony tvs

This is the TV I have. The TCL.

I've only player Spider-Man, The Show, Live 19 and RDR2 with it on my Pro.

Spider-Man looked nice but it was not mind blowing to me. The Show looks good especially the lighting and stadiums. Live I don't think really adds anything with HDR on.

RDR2 is weird. HDR looks, not bad, but meh. With it off, the game looks stunning. It's the most beautiful of the games.

It's the first time I felt like I got my money's worth with the 4KTV and Pro combination. Honestly until RDR2 with HDR off, I felt bamboozled and unimpressed. I did not understand the love for the Pro.

Yeah, I do thnk the Pro is nice but it’s hardly mind blowing. If money is an issue I would just advise people to stick with the Slim and wait for the PS5.

I'm very happy with my PS4 Pro. Majority of games have looked amazing and those with HDR that's been properly implemented look even more amazing. HDR is all about the developer properly and correctly implementing it for each respective console as well as optimizing the game. When you see Digital Foundry say that the HDR in RDR 2 is FAKE HDR, it's definitely not the console (or the TV for that matter) that's the problem - the game's horrible implementation is the problem.

Quick question for you all. I have an older ps4, 120gb I believe. I want to play RDR2 but that would require a complete wiping of all my game files. Do I have an option of saving to an external hard drive?

120 gb? Pretty sure the first PS4 had 500 gb.

But yes you can save onto an external.

You're right, don't know why I was thinking 120. Anyways, my ps4 is loaded down and full. How do you go about transferring save files over to an external? Also, can I change the save path for all future games to save directly to it instead of the ps4? I just want to make sure I don't corrupt my files.
