I had an original Xbox for one game - ESPN NFL 2K5 so I could update rosters using Finn's PC gamesave editor but once Finn cracked the PS2 checksum protection and the editor could be used on PS2, I went back to playing 2K5 on PS2 as the controller was simply superior to the giant bulky Xbox controller and even the S controller wasn't much better when it came playing the game. Editing was perfectly fine but playing the game wasn't. Can't believe that was around 15 years ago. Time zooms by.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Going to have to disagree on this one i saw/played multi platform games on ps2/xbox/gamecube, and they looked 100% the same, and there was not any exclusives either on any of the 3 that i thought man it cant look that good on the other 2. Not sure about online play but graphic wise there was no difference at all. Now ps3 and xbox 360 gen on the other hand ps3 multi platform games had a lot of issues the first like 2 years or so because of the cell and its part of the reason ps3 sales were not great at the start.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Got Dual Shock 4 back buttons attachment today at Target. I’ll report back on how it is once I try it later.
My most games played -
1) Apex Legends - 1062 hours
2) Black Ops 4 - 108 hours
3) Modern Warfare 78 hours
I plan on straying away some on shooters. Love them but I have missed out on a lot of single player experiences. My goal is to complete at least 12 games this year. I just completed Spider-Man and just started God of War.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Change of topic from recent. Question about the Pro. I’ve seen a lot of game reviews for 2019 games that either reviewed only on the Pro or commented that “even on the Pro” there were framerate issues.
I am a casual not especially skilled gamer. I am not going to jump right on the ps5.
My 4 is fairly old, I think I got it in 2014, its got the 500gb hard drive.
Would I be well served to pick up a Pro for games like (just examples) Control and Nascar Heat 4?
I can afford it but I’m not interested in just chucking away $400 for no real benefit.
I’m basically confused by whether framerate issues will curtail my enjoyment at a non-competitive level of play. I also notice that the fan on my 4 runs hard from some games, I think Spiderman in particular got it all hot and bothered.
Thanks

To be perfectly honest, I would say that you would be better off saving the $400 and putting it towards PS5 since it will be BC with PS4 titles.Change of topic from recent. Question about the Pro. I own PS4 Pro and the real benefits are pretty much all on the visual side especially if you have a 4K HDR TV. I played Control on PS4 Pro and it had frame rate issues. Granted, they were minor but still somewhat noticeable.
You could buy an Xbox One X which is on sale for $350 but even then, you're better off saving that money for a next gen console especially if you don't have a 4K HDR TV. 10 months away from next gen, you're better off waiting in my opinion.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
You played Horizon zero dawn before if not you need to play that one at some point in time. Last year i beat 20 games not all ps4 games some switch games and some backlog games from ps3. My backlog is still big though lol.Got Dual Shock 4 back buttons attachment today at Target. I’ll report back on how it is once I try it later.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
You bring up the noise that ps4 makes for what its worth i have heard the pro makes a lot more noise. Its hard to say with ps5 coming out this year i would think pro would get dropped down to $300 soon would likely already be 300 if over all ps4 sales were not so amazing. The slim would likely be 200 instead of 300 to if not for the sales. Also ps5 is going to be able to play ps4 games. So you could maybe get a ps5 and still be able to play ps4 games only thing is you might be spending 100-200 more to get a ps5 then a pro depending on if ps5 cost 400 or 500 and if i am right about pro going down to 300 or not. About frame rate i think most games that have a real frame rate issue on ps4 have it on regular 4 and pro. Like if a game is 30 on regular ps4 I don't think you are going to see 60 on pro all the time or if a game drops frame rate a lot i don't think on pro you are going to see like no drops. I think normally the biggest difference between pro and regular ps4 is being able to play in 4k or at least 1440p vs 900p. I would say waiting and spending just a little bit more money is the better idea. I am sure when ps5 comes out you could even get rid of your 4 and that would save a little bit of money. Then you will have the 5 and be ready even if there is not much you want at first, and maybe in 1-2 years or so you could end up getting some cheap ps5 games if you have still been playing ps4 games during that time. Normally i would say just get pro sense you are likely to not get ps5 right away any way has ps5 will be cheaper if you wait 4 years or so but with BC i think it does make a lot more sense to just wait for ps5 then buying a pro and then waiting for ps5 for several more years.Change of topic from recent. Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
My pro sounds like a jet taking off at times. But at least I know the fans are working...
Weirdly enough it mostly happens when I pause certain games or am looking at a map in a game.Joshua:

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
My Pro is the same way , the fans always get cranking when I'm not really doing anything. You would think it would be just the opposite.
Examples: GT Sport , when I'm looking at paint jobs to download the fans kick into high gear , but when I'm in a race with 20 cars on screen they are quite as a mouse.
Days Gone: when I'm looking at the skill tree or map again the fans get going , yet when I'm in game with a horde on screen again it's not making a sound.
It seems like it should be just the opposite. When the console is doing nothing , that's when the fans kick in. Strange...Last edited by JMD; 01-28-2020, 07:05 AM.Comment
