I am getting a PS4 but I never want to see other systems have major issues. I am not a spiteful person hopeing for failure just because I don't purchase the rival product. Every launch has it's issues let's just hope that their minimal.

I'm rooting against the Xbox One, simply because I want Ryan to have less choices as a consumer.

I was wondering since i can't make it to the midnight release at my local BestBuy, i'm little scare that the store might sell my pre-ordered copy by the amount of people going that night that the workers won't keep track of the supply of consoles that were pre-order.

So I screwed up by not pre-ordering the PS4 a while back and now I'm left in the wind...anyone have a good course of action for getting one somewhere around the release date? I know the chances of getting one on launch is now pretty much done.

Also anyone think any retailers will do PS3 to PS4 console trade in deals? That'd be sweet.

We have had both of the actual units in house for awhile now and have not run across any glaring issues from either system. Personally I am rooting for both systems to be a major success, as that means all consumers , publishers, developers, and parent companies are winners in the Gen4 era.

I am getting a PS4 at midnight and I think downloading that initial update is gonna take a mighty long time.

BTW, I wanna thank everyone for all the good info here. Really helps someone like me who has limited time to surf.

The good news is, you can play the PS4 while it updates.

I am honestly compelled to ask... why would anyone be rooting "against" any system?

I want choices. Quality choices. I wish failure on neither M'Soft or Sony. As a consumer, that doesn't help me out at all.

Only two reasons why Ryan -

1. Justify their purchase in their mind and feel warm and cuddly inside

2. Blatant immature fanboyism/trolling

I purchased a new Vizio last week, but I am not sitting here rooting for LG and Sony TV's to start failing across the board -

I wouldn't worry about that at all. I don't think stores are going to get too many non-preordered systems. I might not do the midnight release and I am not worried about Best Buy selling my system. But if they do, hell will be raised.

I wouldn't be so sure on the supply part. You may be able to find some...

I actually think there are more than 2 reasons. We all know the gaming industry runs in a "free market", yet we also know the power of the Dollar.

Lets take your Vizio tv for example. Imagine you take it home, unwrap it, plop it on the wall and the next you realize is all of Sony's feature movies and libraries can only be shown on Sony TVs. So what that your TV has 1080p! Rumors of others that don't may be able to pay off TV networks will only broadcast a lower defenition until further notice. Your feelings will change quite a bit. I'm not saying this is whats happening but the kettle was somewhat stirred.

I'm not sure if this makes me a fan boy or not but I was miffed and disgusted with Sony and EA for the longest time. I would chalk that behavior up to maturity yes, but I always blamed them for the kill of the Dreamcast. As you can see, the gaming industry can be cruel and we've lost lots of great possible systems, games, and producers. That in itself creates resentment. Is it a wonder why fans of XBox can't enjoy an extra 60-minutes of game play on their favorite titles like Assassins 4, or a new title like Watch Dogs? OR that PS fans have to wait a year to play EA's Titan Fall? I think they bread this new type of fanisum and hatred.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I don't trust either, so your (Microsoft/Sony) actions is all I can go by.
