You dont even need a charging dock. I use a long micro usb cord and it does the trick.

no kidding rather use that money towards a game than a charging dock as I can charge controller in standby mode and use 2nd fully charged controller

I have a 2 and a half year old running around, any cables we can remove from his radius the better. It's hard to overstate the usefulness of a dock for controllers that are used regularly, both for charging and for a reliable place to find the controllers again next time you use the system. If we get a 2nd Xbox One controller we'll get a dock for those too.

I have a dock because I hate the way cords dangling off the front of my system. That and the dock sits on the end table next to the couch. It's nice sitting down knowing the controllers are always charged within arms reach.


The dock has been well worth the $20 I spent on it. Plus it looks pretty cool IMO.

Yeah, I paid $30 for that at Gamestop, but I knew I'd be grabbing my ankles when they started their up-selling routine anyways.

I got my $20 dock at Walmart. Works great. Was a pain to find at Walmart, nothing was organized at mine.

I have a 15 foot cable that I use for my PC and PS3 with the DS4. I just hate that long cable, by mistake on Saturday I stepped on the cable while standing as I was holding the controller. It bent the micro usb. Good thing I was able to bend it back in place. I need to get a wireless bluetooth receiver for my PC so I can use the controller on there via wireless. The PS3, I have no choice but to use the cable.

I understand that but a cable can be wrapped up. To each his own. Id rather save the 18 bucks.

I've got a 4 year-old and a 3 year-old, so I can sympathize.

I keep one of my laptops plugged in beside me at all times, so I just use a short micro USB hooked to that for my charging purposes. A charging station would be nice, but then that would be another thing I'd have to plug in somewhere.
