Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
If it pans out, sounds like they learned from last time and thus can expect more people to pick up a new console this X-Mas.
I know it's asking too much, but I'd love it if they incorporated backwards compatibility with PS3 games. That way I could sell my existing console along with some games I never play and thus have more $$ to put towards the new one. I would think that they would see even better sales if they did this and I don't think it would hurt sales on the PS3 as there will be plenty of people who will balk at the $400 system and opt for one half the price. To me it's good business but I know it will not happen.Comment

The good stuff in the article relates to the PS4 allowing players to now stream games via the internet and Sony TV's via Gaikai's technology. The article also cites that this technology will be used to allow PS4 users to play PS3 games from the new systems release. It does not specify if this will be via the "cloud" but I would imagine that is going to be the case given the investment Sony made in the technology. The PS4 will also allow users to compete against users using different hardware such as smartphones. The obvious features already touched on were also mentioned such as touch screen on the controller and further integrating social media into the framework.
An interesting piece of information in the article is regarding the new Xbox which will go in the direction of streaming entertainment via its new production company. It sounds like Microsoft will be aiming to provide its own "Netflix" style programming through the Xbox with its own created content.
All of this is available in today's issue of WSJ in the Marketplace section.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I'd love to get one this year but with a new job and a potential move, I just don't know if I'll have the time/resources to get one in 2013. I'm OK waiting until next year, though, as I've typically purchased consoles after they have been out for a year.Currently Playing:

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I hear you, man. I had fully intended to wait, as there are so many discounts to be had by waiting past the release window (especially for software). I still may wait, but as the info keeps coming out, it's getting me really pumped for new consoles. I really like what I'm reading about PS4 and if that drops at $399, I will be hard pressed not to trade in my 360 and move on up.XBL: Mean Greene

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Barring all the rumors are correct. The earliest I'll be getting a new PS is March. Pretty much exactly where I was hoping I'd get to this gen. That'll be 7 years with my system. You just can't beat that. And the only reason I say march is obviously for MLB the show.
My guess it there won't be a single launch game that will be able to persuade me into jumping this gen until the Show comes out. That's how this gen pannd out and I foresee the same scenario next gen.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon.
