Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
What gets me is they are selling that GTA V PS3 bundle for $300 when it releases and what maybe 2 months later the PS4 releases for $400. M$ isnt even dropping the price of the 360. These companies are really confident their current gen consoles will still do well at those price points. They do have tons of features though compared to changing gens in the past. It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
You know every time the new systems hit most of us.. even us older grown up guys with career jobs and probably more disposable income will only snatch up just one of the two systems at launch. Right now with current gen, I can say that my xbox 360 gets about 90% of my playing time consistently and my PS3 sits there until an exclusive I want (The Show, Last of US) comes out then those percentages flip flop for a few weeks.
Couple of months ago, I would have said that I was for sure getting the Xbox One at launch and waiting on PS4. After E3 and other interviews with MS people confirming some things, I think if I cant have both at launch this year, I'm going to lean to the PS4. I look at it like this, our third party sports games (Madden, 2k, Fifa, etc) are pretty much going to be the same thing on both systems. So now that leaves exclusive titles, price point, and just what am I getting for my money (good and bad). I just feel like Sony is keeping the PlayStation to it's roots and keeping it a gaming console first, entertainment gadget second. I feel MS is going the other direction.
Do I work for either company? No. RGMoney, a mod on here is my brother and he can confirm I don't work for any gaming company. But he can confirm that I do work in the advertising industry (you've probably seen a commercial or two of mine - and they arent for games or systems). With that said and my insights on marketing and targeting consumers, this is why I feel in my own words that PS4 is going to smash Xbox One in the first year of the next gen console wars. It's quite simple...
It's not that Sony is doing anything super duper incredible. It's more that Sony has smarter people sitting at HQ making decisions on their next gen console. They took a hard look at their number one consumer when it comes to gaming and gadgets and realized what was more important to us. Microsoft once again is trying to play catch up in the gadget world.
Microsoft tried to play catch up in the music area with Zune, to compete with iPhone but failed hard because they didn't listen to consumer insights. They are trying to catch up with Apple AND Samsung in the smartphone races, but once again they are a day late and a dollar short. Other than maybe price point, I don't see most people moving from their iPhone or Galaxy to a windows phone. Smart phones are just as much a fashion statement as they are a gadget of usefullness. And to be honest, some of it is just timing. They are just late to the game, no one cares that much now. So lets move on to the next gen consoles.
Sony is staying true.. once again Microsoft is looking for that "angle" and dont get me wrong, I love my 360 over my PS3. But this time around its different.
Sony just took a hard look at gamers spending habits and how passionate we are about tech in general. They didn't forget about how many of us call in sick the next day a new game or system comes out. They didn't forget WHY we are so rabbid about this stuff. They didnt forget that we will spend more time playing games than watching netflix and they understood that buying games costs more than renting movies or paying for a netflix subscription. They understood the power of the GAMER DOLLAR.
Microsoft is not not going to stay true to it's gaming roots with this system but thats going to fail and this is why (and fail I mean in a subjective way.. its going to sell, but not like PS4 in the first year). Microsoft didn't bother to realize that marketing the Xbox One as an Apple TV or Roku on steriods isn't going to win them any new fans or respect with gamers. They are thinking about the gamer second and the person or couple who maybe has a smart TV or Apple TV/Roku sets up and watches netflix first. Here's the problem. Those people arent into this stuff like WE ARE. While the Xbox one I'm sure will be a good system, and you will be able to do alot INCLUCING playing games, these non-gaming people who are more about home entertainment will just look at Xbox One on the surface.. they will say "oh, Microsoft now has their own Apple TV/Roku thing.. wait? wft? I'm not paying 500.00 for that when I can get Apple TV for 99.00!!!"... This consumer isnt into this kind of stuff like us gamers are so they wont realize the Xbox One is so much more than an Apple TV or Roku gadget... with that said this is what I think will happen year one...
Year one predictions:
PS4 will outselll Xbox One, by more than what people think. Yes some gamers will get Xbox one first though.
More gamers will buy PS4 first (some will get Xbox one later)
The people MS is really trying to go after, a lot wont even come close to buying an Xbox One.. its too expensive for what they think it's supposed to do (another way to watch my netflix).
I will probably have both systems in my house by holiday of 2014 because I think thats when the exclusives I really want for each system will hit... but right now it's going to be PS4 for me..and again, its not as much for what PS4 is doing right, but more for what Xbox One is doing wrong.
Just my 2.5 cents.__________________________________________________ ____

Great post blackceasar, totally agree with everything you wrote.
As Sony learned the hard way with the PS3, winning the "launch" is incredibly important. Playing video games is more than just sitting down and playing a game like it was with the NES or Genesis, there is a huge amount social interaction. Facebook dominates the social interaction aspect of the Internet because it has the most people, Sony will dominate gaming because it will have the most people. Microsoft is at a huge disadvantage right now, they will really need to pull a rabbit out of their figurative a** to compete with Sony day one.
Word of mouth sells consoles; as Microsoft is learning now, it can also hurtsLast edited by Cusefan; 06-16-2013, 12:02 PM.My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Early data for console pre-orders from major online retailers in the United States show consumers pre-ordered approximately three PS4 units for every two Xbox One consoles during the period between Monday June 10 to Wednesday June 12. While this is not an indication of future purchase intent, it does seem to suggest that Sony resonated louder with consumers during E3 2013 than Microsoft.
IGN users were unquestionably swayed by Sony’s messaging during this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. We asked our readers who they thought was “winning E3” during the show. Over 280,000 of you responded, and Sony took the top spot with 81% of the votes. Microsoft garnered 12% and Nintendo grabbed the remaining 7%.
While Sony seems to have the advantage in the pre-order race at this point, Microsoft Games Studio VP Phil Spencer did respond to the recent consumer concerns over mandatory connectivity checks and the seemingly unfriendly approach towards used games and lending by saying, “this isn't a sprint. The platform launches this November; we've got more content to share."

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
So I'm about to pull the trigger on my pre-order but I'm not sure which route to go. I don't mean bundle I mean who to get it from? If I do the Amazon thing, are they going to charge me for it today? Or how does that work? I'll be able to pay for it when it comes out through my CC, I just don't want to be looking at a 500.00 charge on my CC after I hit submit lol
ALSO... do I have a better chance of getting the regular one (not a bundle) upgraded over one of the bundle ones? Im confused. I dont HAVE to have the bundle, I just want the greatest chance of at least having the system in my house at launch.
Someone help a brotha out lolLast edited by blackceasar; 06-16-2013, 12:10 PM.__________________________________________________ ____

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Amazon charges you absolutely nothing at all until the items ships. Depending on where you live Amazon charges you no taxes whatsoever. If you are a Prime member you get FREE release day shipping. So for example I paid exactly 399.99 for the PS4. I live in Florida so they don't charge me taxes on Amazon. I am also a Prime member so release day shipping is free. So I got the PS4 for exactly 399.99 and will have it delivered to me on release day.
Living in Florida no sales tax for online purchases is clutch.
It charges when it ships so you won't see it taken out today.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
So my other question is do I go bundle route or just regular system? I want the best chance of getting upgraded to launch day because I can always just go pre-order the games individually that I want from a gamestop or something.__________________________________________________ ____

Only way for you to get launch day shipping now is to pick one of the bundles.Comment
