More nerds at a console launch for sure, but don't think for a second the type of person looking to rob someone wouldn't use a console launch as a chance to take one from somebody. Heck, it would probably be easier robbing someone for a console vs. a pair of Jordans.

Crooks play video games too.

Was just saying the sneakerhead community is much more likely to resort to shady tactics (especially when it comes to getting shoes for resale) than a video game community is.

Of course it's possible (and plausible) to think of someone getting robbed for a console. I'd say the chances are higher on sneakers though, sadly.

Yeah I have a Level 28 thief that is quite small and a master at using the bow, currently he is getting ready to face a dragon priest in some Dungeon but I may have to call that event off for a while until I level up a bit.

The console resale game is nowhere near the level that sneaker resale is. It's supply and demand there with shoes going for multiple thousands of dollars. Also, the shoes are seen as status symbols rather than something to have to enjoy and play with.

If consoles had the same limited releases and weren't readily available, I would agree. It's really apples to oranges.

Of course there is overlap, I'm just speaking in general. Would you rather buy a console for 500 and sell it for 1,000 or buy a pair of Jordans for 150 and sell them for 1500?

I agree with Ubernoob. The console resale game isn't going to be what it was when the PS3/Xbox360 was released. Manufactures learned their lesson, so it won't happen again.

Also, just look on eBay. A simple search for Nike Dunk Low's turns up 7 pairs for $2,000+.

I resell shoes on Ebay and Kixify.com and those numbers are not the norm. Hell I wish I could get that much back. Most I've gotten is 500$. Jordan's run 180-200$ + not 150. Foamposites run 220-250. Resell usually goes for 350-700$ . A lot of people resell now which has made prices go down. And also Jordan's and nikes have been restocked as of late to make matters worse for resellers. There are a few pair that go for 1000$+ but its not as common .

I gotta say no way in hell is Dec 31st real. I don't think anything is concrete but releasing on New Years Eve seems hectic.

I do find it a bit interesting that so many would be concerned about a robbery. I'm not ruling the possibility out but I do think the reality is being a bit exaggerated. Any time I've ever done resell on Black Friday or a Craiglist sell on any day, it's always done in an active environment with security cameras and either security or police patrol. People are ballsy, I'll give you that. But the likelihood of somebody trying to steal something in a parking lot with hundreds of witnesses walking around, security cameras and security/police patrol isn't THAT high. The person selling the console wouldn't be asking them to meet them in a dark alleyway behind an abandoned store. The transaction would take place in a much safer environment with tons of eyes watching. Not to mention, anyone with half a brain knows that you don't make an in-person sell without at least one or two other people with you. So while I'm not saying a robbery couldn't happen, I'm saying it is pretty unlikely.

Man, it is Black Friday. The day where mothers trample other mothers for a fuzzy, talking bear. Where fights erupt over a doll. When people are held at knife point to restrain them from getting the last electronic of the day.

If you wanna plop down in the middle of that mess and advertise you have a PS4 and/or $900 in your pocket then more power to ya.
