A little off-topic but I went to pre-order AC IV for the PS4 at GameStop today and was shocked to see they changed their hours and don't open until freaking noon. Is this a company-wide deal or am I just lucky this way?

Also, have there been any hints of midnight releases for the consoles? Has that happened in the past? I honestly can't remember. It sucks to get old.

I seem to recall there being midnight releases.

If not, maybe I'm just thinking of the camp-outs weeks before.

Best buy will be holding midnight releases. They have a list of stores on their website doing midnight release. I would assume GameStop will as well.

Yeah I'm assuming if they have midnight releases for games they'll have to do it for consoles.

I hope so since I took a vacation day on the 15th and my GameStop now doesn't open until noon. Since I get off work at 2:30, it makes little sense to take a vacation day if I won't even be able to get the system until noon...

They seem to do midnight releases for almost any big game, I can't imagine they wouldn't do one for a console launch.

I do know I got the 360 and the PS3 at a midnight release.

As for our GS store hours...
ours is open 10 am to 9 pm except for Sundays which is 11 am till 6 pm.

That's how ours used to be. I got there yesterday at 11:40 and they were closed and had a "Get a load of our new hours!" sign. It's really quite a pisser. I may start going elsewhere.

My BB is doing a midnight release which is great because I wont have to wait around all day for Amazon to deliver my 2nd ps4.

Having a preorder through Best Buy has me thinking about doing my first ever midnight release. In the past I've preordered games (in full) from them, only to go there on release day after work for the employee to have to pick up a copy off the shelf.

I'd be pissed to get there Friday evening to find out they're sold out. I don't like the fact that my preorders aren't already put aside.

Pre-ordered AC IV today at GS and asked about a midnight release for consoles. He said he'd be shocked if they didn't do it. Also said the new store hours are because they downsized and got rid of hundreds of store managers across the country so now many stores do not have full time managers. New hours are Mon-Thurs 12-8, Fri-Sat 10-8 and Sunday 12-5. I may start going to a different store, about a mile further away, especially on Tuesdays when new games are being released.

It's HDMI-out only, so that eliminates some of the options that are currently out there. I'm also assuming it will have HDCP again, so we'll have to continue to use workarounds to strip the HDCP out.

I'm currently using a workaround to get my Hauppauge HD-PVR 2 to work. It's a kind of expensive one and the process of figuring it out was tedious, but in the end it was worth it.
