When users' friends upload or begin live streaming their gameplay on PS4 systems, the friends' activities are displayed on "What's New" of the PlayStation®App screen. When users tap on this notification, they can boot pre-installed applications, such as browsers, to spectate the uploaded gameplay. Users can also post comments on gameplay screenshots, footage and live streams.

This right here. This is going to make it hard for people to concentrate on anything. Talk about 30 minute bathroom breaks.

Why would Blu-ray and DVD require a update at launch? Wouldn't that be default functionality?

Sucks for those of you who are getting PS4 because of the internet problems.

Makes sense. I have the DS4 "glitch" and I was probably one of the first pre-orders. I wasn't hitting F5 but I was probably well within 5 minutes of go live on Amazon.

I was spamming F5 and got my order in soon as they hit, however I'm listed as a single controller Launch day edition.

Even though I have both ordered the PS4 has my heart. It just seems like every move has been the right one in regards to what I'm looking for. Deep down I know this is gonna be the system for me when it's all said and done. Last gen the Xbox 360 was my love

I got feeling I'm gonna dump the Xbone. Ryse is the only thread I'm holding on to and the MP that Live offers. If Sony has a BANGING online?? Watch out Microsoft

I know we talked on the phone about this, and we both know what I told you. After I decided to get both systems, I have finally sold one of my Xbox pre-orders, and am cancelling the other one. Part of me wants it, as I am sure it's going to be a very good system - but unfortunately that part is too small. One system to start the gen, and that system is the PS4.

Are you sure? Mine is listed as normal in my account page but when I click on the link it takes me to a page where the DS4 bundle is selected.

I have no idea. It sucks for me as my net bandwidth sucks, but I'm sure I'll live, unless these are improvements to the functionality rather than unlocking it themselves.

Bluray functionality is always updated because some Blurays dont work with all players. I've purchased several Blurays that didnt work on my players until i downloaded a firmware update.

What are the internet problems you refer to?

I just meant that some people had issues with Xbox One requiring internet, saying that some people don't have internet so it should work out of the box. Seems like some of these default features require the day one patch.

Doesn't bug me either way, just seemed odd. I didn't think that it was just some blu-rays though. The article I read on Verge seemed to think it was all Blu-Rays and DVD's.

Exactly how I feel. The part that we talked about that others will soon find out OOPS. No doubt makes it a little easier to go 1 system. Now you are gonna get pm'd to death. Lol

It's like all the signs are rearing it's ugly head with rumors that may be true/untrue and you gotta really wonder is the other a $500 risk/gamble.

If I dump all 3 of my Xbone preorders I'm sure I could get me a nice new Smart TV??? Lol

I'm so depressed because I feel i know what I should do and just can't seem to do it.

Yeah, same for me.

Are you sure? Mine is listed as normal in my account page but when I click on the link it takes me to a page where the DS4 bundle is selected.

Right, it does that for everyone. There's something wrong with the way they have it linked. If there's a yellow bar across the top, that's what you're getting. But, if you click the Launch Edition box, most of us see the yellow bar with order info across the top on that one.

Made a post to reply, but my point was all the people without internet. This was a big debate in Xbox One vs. PS4. Military people and whatnot will be unable to get day one patch (same with Xbox One)...

The link I read (and posted) made it seem like all Blu-ray and DVD functions need patch to work, but it may be mistaken.

Just something to point out...seemed odd that you would need a patch for DVDs to play.

The language in the press release doesn't seem to indicate that the patch itself is required to enable DVD/Blu-Ray, just that it requires connecting to the internet to activate. They may have just been unable to acquire the playback licenses before they had to begin manufacturing.

I'm guessing that it needs to connect to the internet in order to set region restrictions based on billing address and/or ip address for those who import the console. The games will region free, but as always movies will be region locked.

Cool...all makes sense, just had me wondering as a techie. Wouldn't impact a purchase one bit. I think it's realistic to assume regular internet.
