I'm the only one here so far....lots of call ins so I'm glad I got here early.

As far as the announcement goes...me and the employees here are speculating it could be a new Parappa the Rappa.

Even not counting all the units sent through other channels, to the press, and already delivered by retailers for one reason or another (one of the owners of a bricked PS4 claims he got it at WalMart for instance), the reported failure ratio is 0.175%, which is minimal.
As a term of comparison, in 2008 the Xbox 360 was reported to have a 16% failure ratio, while the PS3 and the Wii had a 3% failure ratio.
According to Consumer Reports data the average failure ratio of consumer electronic sits at around 15%.

I don't understand why people are worried with the PS4 breaking it won't its not MS here that ship consoles out early with cheap crap inside it

Only concerning thing is it seems to be the same issue with everyone. So either there is a consistent manufacturing flaw or (hopefully) it's a software issue that can be patched.

Have any of the "bricked" PS4's been tried on a second different-branded TV?

Great article. I work in the electronics business and can verify those numbers as well. Also one thing I have noticed was the video that one guy was posting of his PS4 with HDMI issues, was his LG TV in the backgound. I have seen more HDMI issues with LG TVs with any other brand in my years. We use a model for training that gives all our vendors major issues (handshake) when they try and use their products with it, so I have to wonder if some of these issues are more TV related than PS4 based.

Until we see OSers posting on these problems, I am not going to jump off the cliff yet.

I'm planning on using an LG tv.... Have no problems with it so far, so hopefully it stays that way.

I have no idea how I'm going to find the time to play all these games. I bought Madden, FIFA and BF4 and gameflyed 2k and Need for Speed.

Thats not even including the current gen games (GTA, WWE). Its a good problem to have.

I charged mine on my PC. All I can tell you is I plugged it in and left for 4-5 hours and when I checked it it was apparently fully charged. The yellow light was no longer on.

How would you even know if it is fully charged??

When you plug it in, the light on the front of the controller (that is blue when playing) pulses yellow. When it stopped doing that I assumed it was fully charged.

I bought the official Sony controller charging station, and I swear my DS4 was charged in just over an hour -

My ps4 is applying the 1.5 update. It's making some clicking sound on boot and power down. Is that normal?
