 I just called and got the 3 year accidental plan from Squaretrade. They gave me the 35% discount and it took about 5 minutes to do.

I got impatient last week and just went with Sony's. Hopefully if my PS4 breaks it's an easy process like it was when dealing with Microsoft in the past.

Is everyone getting their automatic updates to work when their ps4 is in standby mode? I haven't gotten a one to download. I also noticed that when I start up my ps4 from standby, it boots up like when I had it completely shut down. I've got auto updates enabled and I'm a plus subscriber.

I'm still skeptical about using standby. What if the electricity goes out....don't know how it would handle that.

I'm beginning to think that I turned on the system before it checked for updates. I was looking at previous updates and the playroom updated at 5:30am one morning. I guess I'm just timing it right and it is working correctly after all.

One of my friends put his PS4 in stand-by for 30 minutes while he went to take a shower.

He came back and the graphics card was fried. The system would only render a crazy scattershot image on screen.

He just got a new PS4 in the mail from Sony yesterday, about a week after stand-by mode killed his first one.

I only use standby mode when I need to charge my controller if I am not playing during the day other than that I turn it off. I just feel more comfortable with it off when I am done.

Bought my square trade warranty today. Not taking any chances since both my ps3 and Xbox gave out. Xbox twice...

I do have a warranty..... a Square Trade one. I just don't want to have to deal with Sony for my first year. That's how it works right? U deal with Sony until the 12 month manufacturers warranty is up?

that was an anomaly. lol. my cousins ps3 almost got fried. hdmi cold melted in the tv, but fortunately not the ps3. I use standby, because my internet sucks and I don't want to spend time downloading updates. Most ps3's the newer models only have standby. they don't have a powerbrick and won't turn off unless you unplug. the only thing about the ps4 is that is still runs.

I'd say standby is ok, maybe like once or twice a week is okay. especially on heavy network traffic days, monday nights, tuesday nights or a week after a release of a new game(patch updates)

That is correct and if for any reason Sony denies fixing it, Square Trade will cover it during the first year.
