Same here. The only game that I've ever had crash on me was BF4, and it crashed a lot! Since their round of patches, those are all but gone for me now.

Man I would love to see a spotify app. I subscribe to the cheap spotify plan now but if they were to create a spotify app I would upgrade.

Don't see a separate thread for Don't Starve but umm....

Pretty hard when there's no instructions.

I made it to night time and predictably got ate up and haven't passed day 1.

I did grab flint but not sure if I'm supposed to make a fire?

          Please spoiler any help.

              Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

Made it to 11 days on Don't Starve and unlocked the first extra character. I could have lasted quite a bit longer but I got stupid and attacked something I had no business trying to fight. Up until that point I had been pretty passive, only just running around collecting what I needed to survive and crafting stuff.

The game is randomly generated each time you play, but you should be able to find enough berries and carrots to keep from starving for a few days, as well as finding materials needed for a fire and the basic tools. If you do only that, you can pretty easily make it as far as I did at the very least.

Also: Use the map. it's the touchpad button on the DS4, and it shows where every permanent thing on the map that you've discovered is located (trees, berry bushes, hostile creature areas, etc.)

Of course there's much more to the game than that. I'll spoiler tag the next part because part of the fun of this game is figuring out stuff for yourself:

On the other, there's definitely some visual latency to the Vita's screen even with the direct connection to the PS4, making it difficult to play quick-reaction based games (Zen, to name one - the flipper delay is basically unplayable after you've played it on console, or even the Vita's own version of the game). It's going to make the Show almost impossible to play on there as well, unless you turn the pitch speed way down and adjust to an entirely different pitch timing.
Well this is kind of disappointing. Not the RP thing itself, but having second thoughts about which impressions I should be considering to be legitimate to what I will experience.

I rely on members here to be as honest as possible about something, and not just love it for what it is. If something isn't immediately responsive, it should not only be pretty noticeable, but it should be mentioned. Yeah, I've heard about having latency when in the basement and the router is upstairs, but if there is any sort of response time delay (especially with direct connection), this has to be mentioned. I know people didn't like the R2/L2 thing, but for bcruise to be the first person to make note of this in two months is kind of strange.

Sorry, I'm not calling anyone out or anything when saying that... I just figured people would make something like that more aware in general. I mean YouTube podcasters, IGN commenters, professional review sites... in this day and age where response time is such a huge thing in gaming, I sense if this truly was the big issue it can be, we'd all be more than aware about it and never use it period.

Either that, or maybe it's not an issue and bcruise just stinks like no other.

Honestly I've never seen a delay, but I also don't use it that much and I'm pretty close to the device.

There is certainly some degree of latency, but nothing that has been of note to me.

Much like fps and resolution some people are just more tolerant of some things imo.

So, to test the delay, I made a video. On the video and in person, I saw no delay, screen capping the video I could see a delay, spoilered below because it's several large screens in a row.

                        Spoiler

So, by that, the delay introduced by the PS4-Vita video stream is like a tenth of a second. I just realized I should have recorded the DS4-PS4 latency to see what the latency difference is in all. Once I upload the Vita vid I will try with the DS4 to see latency there. Assuming the Vita-as-controller latency is the same as the DS4 latency, looks like remote play about doubles that. Not sure how much difference that makes in game, but it doesn't really seem that bad IMO.

                        <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/UIwymjK2st8?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
(youtube vid might take a few minutes, still uploading)

Edit: OK, using a DS4 or a Vita as a controller makes no difference at all, delay of hitting a button and action on screen is indistinguishable in the videos going frame by frame.

On remote play I did a test, play a ball with the DS4, with Vita as controller, remote play here next to the PS4, remote play on other side of house. DS4, controllerVita, and close remote play felt exactly the same (the sole exception being the smaller screen). Remote play on the other side of the house, that wasn't so smooth. The game wasn't playable because of connection issues either, it would pixelate, glitch, and gameplay would lurch.

Vita was using a direct connection for all tests, BTW, PS4 hard wired to network. Didn't try to clean up connection, but PS4 being close to a wireless router and other wireless devices giving off signals between the Vita and PS4 are likely culprits. FWIW, even right next to PS4 the Vita will lose connection if I hold the Vita down by my knees, probably the keyboard acting as an EM shield or getting it too close to the router.

                          Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

                          @ Burns:

That looks about right with what I'm seeing, honestly. But, that tenth of a second delay (if that's what it is) still matters, especially in something like pinball. A few frames difference is what makes the difference between a good flip and the ball draining right down the middle, and even a slight delay in what I see is going to wreck me.

I've got a good way for people to see it for themselves in the pinball setting. If you have the Star Wars Boba Fett table, try playing that on PS4, and then turn on Remote Play and play it on Vita. This is a tough table with notoriously fast inlanes, especially when the ball comes down off of one of the two upper ramps. On Remote Play, with the ball traveling at those speeds, if I try to flip the ball without trapping it first, I have to press the button while the ball is still in the lane to have it activate when it's rolls to the flipper. If I flip while it's rolling down the flipper, I'll either miss it entirely or catch it on the very tip of the flipper, which is just as bad because the ball will carom off the bottom of the opposite side slingshot and right back down into the hole left by your raised flipper. With the DS4, or with the Vita-as controller thing, pressing the button when the ball is on the flipper will give me the results I'd expect, often shooting the ball back deep into the table somewhere.

A tenth of a second isn't much. But I certainly notice it when I'm pinballing, and I guarantee I would when trying to hit a 98mph fastball. In either situation I'd have to anticipate and hit the button sooner than I should.

I wish Blzer had a PS4 and could try this for himself because I KNOW he knows about the Boba Fett table.

I wanted to listen to some music last night and wanted something a little bit better than my gaming headset so I plugged in my nice pair of headphones to a Turtlebeach DSS I have. Only problem was chat since I couldn't say anything through my headphones.

A year ago, I picked up a basic Logitech USB mic to use for PC gaming since I wanted to use better headphones there as well. I decided to try that on the PS4 and it worked without an issue. Pretty good to know. I've heard you can do the same on the PS3, just never did it.
