Not nearly enough to make it even remotely close to worthwhile for me. And I don't pay tax on Amazon now either.

My problem with digital is not even that it cost the same as retail, is that retail copies end up getting deals yet both Sony and Microsoft tend to not match those deals for digital versions. Then games end up getting price drops yet the digital version stays at the $60 price tag or never drops as low as the retail copy.

They drop, just not as fast.

And I agree. Sony should probably recognize sales and perhaps operate like a real store offering deals for digital copies.

Nothing too dramatic that would hurt retailer relationship but if retailers are cutting prices to get people in stores, Sony might benefit from similar tactics.

I'd love for digital to make sense financially but as of yet it's a ripoff with no benefits

I think the convenience of digital is really, really underrated. Not everyone trades in their games. If you do that's one thing, but the only reason I don't own more games isn't because I'm getting gouged by any means, but because I don't have time to play all the games I'm interested in and I know they'll be on sale (esp the plethora of indies being shoveled onto the platform(s)) at some point.

I just see no reason for me to go digital. I bought South Park for $48 at Best Buy almost had it for two weeks and just traded it in yesterday for $40. Plus I got $10 back in Reward Zone certificates for preordering. I'll do the same with inFAMOUS. Buy for $48, trade back in for probably $40, maybe less. It just depends on if they will be doing their 100% trade in promotion. Even if they aren't, I'll get at least $30 back. The deals are just way too good to pass up.

Yup, physical makes a lot more sense if you have the time to grind though games and don't want to keep them.

If there was a way to trade in digital games to a online store server like Microsoft was going to do and the digital rights stuff where you could play your games from any system when they were talking about online only then I think you see more people go digital.

Took the Knicks and Lakers over the Wizard's knee this weekend. Here's a small sample:

MS got excoriated because they had silly DRM policies, not because of potential ideas.

There are ways to do it without being draconian about it to your consumers, it will just take a bit of work and not being lazy saying "take it or leave it."
