the ps4 pro comes with a 4k cable already....unless your cable is from like 6 years ago then you do not need to buy a new one because hdmi 1.4 already does 4K at 30hz and to get 60hz which is for gaming you need 2.0 and 2.0a for HDR but those are upgrades to the input not the cable

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I couldn't help but laugh at points while I read the DF review. There are lines in there that are word for word what has been said in this thread, like 1080p advantage varying from game to game, games should show more improvements as time goes on, stuff like that. 1080p boosts just depending on devs basically. We called all of that from a mile away.
ROTTR seems like the gold standard right now, like we thought, and I think it will be until Horizon
THE PRO would have been an awesome upgrade if Sony was not afraid to hurt the feelings of their current install base by shutting down half the GPU for non patched games.. So if a game has no patch and not many do then it runs exactly the same as base ps4
I am just hoping it upscales to 4K like the S which is a good update if Sony used a great upscaler but yet to be seen.
Imagine if all games took advantage of both GPU"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Based on the IGN review I am thinking of running ROTTR at the max FPS mode instead of the max graphics mode, sounds like the FPS boost is nice"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
"In terms of the acoustic performance of the Pro, it has much more in common with the c-chassis PS4 than the Slim. We were hoping that the larger console may integrate a larger fan - typically, the larger fan, the slower it needs to spin in order to displace the same amount of heat. We've yet to put the Pro through exhaustive tests here, but we note a peak 55dB during inFamous First Light gameplay, but really it's not so much the loudness that's the issue as opposed to the pitch. The fan spins up and down and is clearly audible from across the room. Initial tests on heat again show a profile similar to the standard PS4."

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Oh yeah, this is towards the top of my list as far has high hopes for extensive Pro enhancements.
I am also pretty impressed by what I have seen of how it enhances PSVR. Pretty significant improvements in the screens I saw posted.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Gamespot's review is basically this. If you don't own a PS4, buy the Pro. If you only own a 1080P tv and own a PS4, not worth upgrading. If you have a 4K HDR tv, it's worth it.

I really dont think anyone has said, or can reasonably conclude, that it flat out "isnt worth upgrading for 1080p."
The few 1080p super-sampling examples I have seen posted so far are clear upgrades. Clear upgrades.
the ROTTR upgrades at 1080p alone (max FPS mode sounds fantastic) are a big indicator of how awesome the pro can be for 1080pers now and even more so down the road.
Edit
I guess this could be a case of people hearing or seeing what they want to hear or see. I came home and I am nothing but impressed and even MORE happy with my purchase (or pre-purchase) based on what I have seen and read, but I guess someone else could see the same things and think "meh, not worth it."

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
If someone finds an analysis of the hard drive performance please link it here. I can't find anything so far. That's the last thing I am waiting to find out about.
Something tells me, as NYG eluded to earlier (based on the comments from the DF guy in the unboxing video) that we might not be getting the gains we hoped for, but who knows."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
So I use a 25ft HDMI cable that goes from my basement to my bedroom (hooked up to a monitor). I bought this HDMI cable approximately two years ago. It's not a Monster cable but it's one of high quality. Will I have to replace that HDMI cable? I'm a little confused by this.
Whats the brand and name of the cord you are using?Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
i read in comments at DF that the hdd on the pro is a hatachi 5200 rpm in sata3 which is very sad as it seems the bandwith again will cause SSD to not perform as it shouldComment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I'm watching DF vids right now where the dude is saying how "pleasantly surprised" he is by 1080p on Pro Mode games, but again it varies from game to game and will probably be more pronounced moving forward.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I didn't realize that Modern Warfare: Remastered was getting super-sampling in 1080p mode as well. That's cool.
TF2 is probably still gonna be the first game I play, though."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."
