Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
For me, the PRO only cost me $45 out of pocket so I can't complain whatsoever. Horizon Zero Dawn is the showcase for the PRO on a good 4K HDR TV. The base/slim PS4 has a low tier version of HDR and since I care more about HDR than I do resolution, I wanted the best option.
I see the PRO as a mid-gen upgrade for those who own a 4K HDR TV or were going to buy one. It's to give you the extra visuals that you can't get on the base/slim PS4. It also has to do with the games as opposed to the console. Majority of multi-platform games have been underwhelming especially in regards to giving you options as to what you prefer to play in - performance or visuals.
ROTTR is one of the few games that gives you three options if you own a PRO. This is what has disappointed me the most. Nioh is the only other game that I can think of that allows the user to choose what they prefer where as most games just implement it all automatically.
For me, it's also based on the exclusives. Uncharted: TLL and Horizon DLC along with the base game of Horizon alone make the PS4 PRO worth the purchase if you own or will own a 4K HDR TV because you can easily see the difference between the PRO and the base/slim PS4 especially in regards to HDR.
Plus, I know as the months and years progress, the games will look even greater and be better optimized especially for the exclusives.
With that all said though, I can fully understand those who already own a base/slim PS4 and don't want to upgrade especially if they don't own or plan to own a 4K HDR TV. In fact, I would have done the same thing if I didn't get the excellent deal that I got.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
On Friday, my son showed me a way to download digital games off PSN that we had not paid for! Apparently, there is a way to "spam" a demo and install the full game. Anyways, NO I did not keep the two games he downloaded. I had him delete them. Sony has to be aware of this, am I right?
It did not work with every demo, but many of them. I do wonder if it worked on games I had once rented or purchased. Obviously, I did not have the disc.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I'm in the "buy what fits your needs and budget" club on the PS4 Pro vs Slim.
I think Sony has done a great job providing solutions for everyone.
I originally didn't want a Pro, but I realized I'm not buying the Scorpio a while ago and it was time to make the jump and also pick up a nice monitor. I haven't regretted the decision one bit, but it was about a $900 investment to upgrade.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Concerning the PS4 Pro I want to make sure I'm getting the most out of it so I have a question. As I posted earlier my TV is a 4k ultra HD but does not support HDR. I have two options when it comes to connecting the Pro to the TV. HDMI 1 through 4 are 4K @ 30 hz , HDMI 5 is 4k @60hz 1080p and higher.
When connected to 1 through 4 the info on my screen when the pro is on reads 1080p, when connected to HDMI 5 it reads 2160p So it looks like HDMI 5 is the correct place to have the pro connected for best performance, right? I know this seems like an no brainer but I'm not big tech guy so i want to be sure.
ThanksLast edited by JMD; 07-10-2017, 07:15 AM.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I don't know exactly how he did it. There were around 4 or 5 steps. I know you start downloading the demo and pause it...He found the exact instructions on Youtube from someone he follows. By the time I had gotten home, he had downloaded COD: Infinite Warfare. He was able to access it online and play the campaign. He showed me some other games and I told him to try and download Titanfall 2, and sure enough it started downloading 59 gigabytes.
I stopped him soon after because one, it's stealing and two, I didn't want my gamer tag to be suspended.
I don't recall ever owning COD: Infinite Warfare, but I did play a few hours of the single player of Titanfall 2 some months back. So again, I'm not sure if that had anything to do with that.
EDIT: Just did a quick search and it's legit. I won't post the link but it's easy enough to find. Very surprised Sony hasn't remedied this.Last edited by sportdan30; 07-10-2017, 11:29 AM.PSN: sportdan30

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Found it. Will try a few games. Every game must have a "try demo" option or it won't work. I will try this and get back to you guys later today. I'll be shocked if this actually works as this "glitch" seems to be around two years old and for Sony not to patch it would be very surprising. One thing is for sure, if this is legitimate, I wouldn't be surprised to see "free demos" eliminated completely at some point.Comment
