Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I'm not going to actually do this. Thankfully, I make enough money not to do this and I have over $700 in Best Buy credit for gaming so im good. I'm just curious to see if this works and will be surprised if it does.
I also play off-line so im never connected when playing which is how I would assume they "catch you". Luckily, I don't have many more games that I need to purchase digitally. Far Cry 4 is one of them but I'll wait for the gold edition to hit $20 as well as ROTTR and Mafia III. I'm patient so waiting isn't a big deal.
I'm just more curious to see if this glitch works. I'm guessing that it won't though. Once I hit the "end" for the demo, the game will be unplayable in regards to progressing.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I downloaded Far Cry 4 and since it's about 25GB, it appears to be the full game. I'm going to research how long the demo is and see if I can keep playing after the demo ends. If I can, then I know the glitch works.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
As for Far Cry 4, you need a "key to kyrat" in order to play the game at all. Friend tried Inside and Titanfall 2. Inside didn't work and Titanfall 2 only downloaded 27GB out of 51GB so that obviously doesn't work.
The "glitch" doesn't work. After re-watching a few videos on youtube, I realized a few things. First, for a few users, the game they used as the example was already purchased on their account. Second, none of the users show themselves playing the said game and finally, a few had "English: United Kingdom" as their default language which they then switched to "English: United States". Maybe, this glitch works in a different region but not here.
And im assuming those on youtube never played and tested the games. They just see "full game" and assume it's the full game. Either the glitch worked and it was patched or it simply never worked.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Do you have some sort of bandwith cap on your internet or is this like a "sky net is coming for me" thing ?
I love stand by mode and background updates/downloading. It's really taken away some of the pain of game updates that came with the PS3/360. It used to be disheartening to come home from a long day of work and expect to play some Battlefield, only to have to wait for a downloaded update.
If you're strictly offline I guess it makes sense, but I don't see the real harm in letting your console stay connected either.Comment

You talk about playing Battlefield and im assuming that you mean online right? If so, would it matter if you were connected if you weren't playing online? I always refer to myself with friends and co-workers as the "single player console gamer" because I don't play online and have no interest whatsoever in gaming on a PC.
For me personally, staying connected would make even less sense than not staying connected. The only two times that I have been connected online was for when I played For Honor and The Division and only because it was required. I still played only the story campaign and as a solo lone wolf respectively so even though I was connected, multi-player didn't exist to me.
Even worse, games are getting closer and closer to being "games as a service" and im simply not interested in this nor ever will be as it's not how I want to play games. This is the main reason why im heavily favored and invested in Sony and PlayStation 4 compared to Microsoft and Xbox. Their exclusives appeal to me immensely more because they're are focused on being off-line story driven single player games which is perfect for me.
I only have three internet devices in my apartment. I have my laptop which is always connected cable wise but not "on" all the time. When im not on my laptop, it gets shutdown and turned off along with the modem. The other two devices are PS4 Pro and Xbox One Slim. Also, I always shutdown the PS4 Pro/Slim when im done using them. I don't keep either on their respective "standby" mode.
Basically, unless a game goes on sale that I want to buy, I rarely go online to begin with. Today was the first time I went online on the PS4 since June 20th when I purchased and downloaded Nex Machina.
Barring a sale on a game that I want, the next time I go online will be on August 15th to buy and download Matterfall. Subtract today since I was actually just curious about that glitch and it would be eight weeks before I go online again.
This alone should explain why I don't stay connected. There's simply no valid reason for me to do so.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
LOL. Hahaha. Good one. I don't know why everyone thinks it's such a big deal as to why im not always "connected" online. Were you guys connected ten years ago 24/7? Probably not. Reason why is simple - there was no reason to do so especially since online gaming was just getting really going. Xbox started it but Xbox 360 blew it up. Point is that I have never been into online gaming where as most here are so why would I be the one to change? If anything, everyone else changed because they play online and thus, have a reason to do so. I don't and it's highly unlikely that I ever will but like I always say, to each their own.Comment

I have had my house connected 24/7 since around 2001. I got wireless that summer and haven't looked back. But to each their own. I just found it funny lol

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
The simple fact of not having to deal with plugging and unplugging an Ethernet cord every time I need to update a game AND then wait for said update to download and be installed is enough reason for me to keep my system on the network and in standby.
I rarely play online, but the convenience makes it a no-brainer.
