I never understand brand loyalty. In my life I've owned the following systems:

NES
Genesis
Playstation
Dreamcast
PS2
Xbox
Xbox 360
PS3

I go with whoever has the best price and best features. I got the 360 at launch but I'm not sad because I'm not getting the 1 at launch this time. Thats MS' fault. If they priced it better, didnt have the restrictions on used and rented games and the stupid online 24hr policy, I probably would be buying their console.

Nintendo is living proof of how fleeting success can be. From the absolute bonkers sales of the Wii (remember the months and months and months that went by where it was IMPOSSIBLE to find one on the shelves of any store?) to what looks to be a real dud in the WiiU.

3DS is still cool, though.

This may come across as a little racist but why would you use japanese hosts on US press conferences. I'm struggling to understand what this guy is saying on the Nintendo press conference.

Nothing has excited me so far other than Pokemon X and Y. Yeah Wind Waker was a good game but make a BRAND NEW Zelda please! Beg of you!

I personally feel for most gamers, the $100 is more important than the DRM. I know the DRM truly doesn't affect me much. I just can't trade in games like I have, so I'm more selective, but that is what it is. The $100 and required Kinect are bigger deals to me.

I don't know how to explain this, but I think that a lot of people's pushover toward PS4 just might be that their friends are pushing toward PS4.

I'm going to be forthcoming in saying I have dozens of friends who have (since 2011) self-admitted the PS3 to ultimately have been the superior console, or at least have the superior games or something. Their only, only, only thing that they all independently said was the reason they originally chose 360 or would continue to stick with 360 was because that's what their friends have.

I know this is important to people. They want to play online with their friends. I personally only have a handful of close friends who have PS3 online that I play with, but the tip-over is that I have many friends here on OS that makes me okay with the fact. Not only that, but they were all in college when they said this, so they shared/brought over games like it was nothing. Obviously you can't do this with X1.

I think all of those friends who went with 360 because their friends were getting it will go toward PS4 if their friends are now getting that, and it might just take a few people who care about the $100 less/DRM differences/exclusives/etc. that will just make it spread like a virus.

The final thing that Sony can do to win others over is release their system earlier, even if by a week. I really think Sony dominates the first few years of this generation, if not completely outright owns the entire console generation.

It's kind of a tough position to be in. You want high-level, knowledgeable, experienced people speaking at these events, and at Nintendo, a good number of these people are Japanese.

But it's also critical to be able to communicate clearly and effectively at these events, which is very tough to do when English isn't your native language.

Tough call. Some people (including the Japanese execs) might be offended if they ran some lower-level person out there just because he/she is a native English speaker.
