Now that the hype has died down for a second, your seeing Sony now back clarifying some of their statements re: 2nd/3rd Party developers. Just like with music in the 90's, the current gaming market is going to change like it or not, they're going towards a disc-less digital system, people hate change but the technology is going to keep pushing this medium of digital usage forward. When's the last time you bought a music cd in a store? My point exactly.

Gamers have had digital downloads for a long time now. Thats not what got people upset about X1.

You're right digital downloads have been around for a while, I was questioning that, but I believe they're more of an afterthought as opposed to being a main option for buying games.

If anything I think the price is their biggest issue today. That and not being very clear on how things work. They are changing alot of tradition in gaming, they should have demoed the process of buying, sharing, etc so people knew exactly what to expect.
I agree with your point 100 percent, MS isn't controlling the narrative, but allowing misinformation and anxiety to control the podium.

I agree with you somewhat, but I don't know if CD's are the perfect example. We will get to a disk-less generation one day, but I don't think it's coming as soon as people think. 26 gb downloads for a game like The Last of Us isn't convenient for everyone with their internet situation.

People play their console at home typically in the same place. You don't take your xbox with you to work, while going for a run, to the pool, etc.

Music has to be everywhere at once and CDs are the least convenient way to do it now. There are a lot of people willing to never buy a disk again, but some people like myself don't want their games to be tied down to just my console. I want to be able to take the disk out and go play Madden at a friend's house who may not have it.

Again, I agree that we're heading in that direction, but It won't be as soon as everyone, including Microsoft, thinks. They are trying to get ahead of the curb with the XB One and they may have jumped the gun a bit.

The technology flies right over the average gamer's head.

edit: I actually like that both systems are doing things a little different. It allows me to look at pros and cons for each and decide which one best suits my needs. For me It's the PS4, but for someone who's settled in to a home for a while, married, etc. It may be the XB One.

If I read it correctly, the information is going to be on a cloud, tied into your account, like google play is for music, plus it would allow me to play my games at your house, without me bringing my games. As we're both saying, they're ahead of the curve, but I think they need to control their narrative better.

I think the biggest drawback for me is still the 24 hour online deal. Some of my friends don't even have internet at their place so they wouldn't even own and xb one in the first place.

Oh well, I won't be purchasing one any ways. I may one day down the road. That's how I did the PS3/360. Had a PS3 since 07 and then got my 360 about two years ago.

I have no dog in the console fight, I generally get both system. Should be an interesting time from now until Launch.
