I only ask because I'm confident I can still secure one at one of my local gamestops, but that window is only open for so long (they were almost out of Xbox Ones at closing time yesterday).
Normally they have a cap, but are they actually guaranteed to have enough consoles to satisfy that cap they have? I mean its not like a special edition Blu-Ray where you have a set number and can't expect anymore, the number they are setting the cap at could be overly ambitious (like how there were shortages when the 360, the PS3 and the Wii came out at various stores).
UPDATE: Amazon had previously been offering a Standard version of the Xbox One in addition to their unavailable (i.e. preorder cap had been reached) Day One version. They no longer have the option to preorder either. According to Gamestop the Day One versions are the first wave of consoles, so if you did't/don't get one of those reserved there is a chance you will have to wait until more get in stock no matter where you go to get them. Sony does not have the same wave-identification.
