You'll have to download the digital version. Buying the digital version won't "unlock" the version you've already installed from the disc.

But the game saves from the physical version should work with the digital version.

      Re: Anyone Going Digital?

Sports gamer only, so I've gone all digital.

If it's a "story" based game (i.e. anything but sports), go physical so you can trade it in.

Advantages: Easily switch games without getting off my behind.

Disadvantages: From what I have read ... Can't uninstall unwanted patches (?*), and there is no work around; Re-downloading the game automatically installs all patches that have been released (?*) *Question mark because I'm unsure but I'm also 95% certain. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

So, I did it. I'm all digital. God help me.

I have been all digital for awhile. I love the feeling of not having to switch discs. It's not the most economical choice, but I enjoy it.

I get games I won't trade in as digital. Fallout 4, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, etc. Nice to not have to deal with discs or cartridges on those.

Same here, I couldn't go back to disk ever. Like my digital collection so much better .

You know the more digital I go it reminds me of when HD TV first became a thing. At first I was like "not worth it." Then I finally gave in because of my brother you couldn't pay me to go back to SD. If my options were to watch the Super Bowl in SD or not at all, I would go not at all.

It getting like that with my digital games. I have several disc games I would like to play but just end up loading up my digital games. I might be lazy but games are for leisure time after all.😁

                  Re: Anyone Going Digital?

I am just about all digital now. I have even gone as far as buying digital games I already own on disc just so I won't have to use the disc. I've got the 1TB hard drive in the Pro with a 4TB external so I've got room for many many games. I currently have 72 full games installed and 9 smaller arcade games installed and I have just under 2TB of space free. I may end up swapping out the 2TB internal from my regular PS4 and putting it in the Pro giving me a total of 6TB.

The only down side is if you buy a game and don't like it you are stuck with it, but I have become quite good at waiting for prices to drop before buying games now.

The only sports game I buy every year is Madden and i may wait this year because I'm still happy with 17. MLB the show I was still playing 14 but I saw 16 on sale for $20.00 so I got that which will keep me happy until I find 18 on sale for $20.00 2 years from now lol.

                    Re: Anyone Going Digital?

Has anyone bought a digital game off of Gamestop's website?

I tried to buy Madden on Monday night because I wanted to use my Gamestop credit card and before I made the purchase it said I would receive my code after checkout. Well when I got to the page it said my code was unavailable at this time. Then said to check my email for further instructions on how to redeem it. Well I never got the email. I ended up cancelling my order and still haven't gotten the credit back.

I just figured you get the code right away like everywhere else.

Is it a new-ish card? Either way, could have just been held for additional verification is all.

Will be up to 72 hours before the refund/credit goes through, typically.

                        Re: Anyone Going Digital?

Digital is better for games that are on sale on the PSN store. Usually you can grab them for better prices than most outlets sell them physically. I prefer physical for new releases though.

Out of curiosity, are there any examples of this? Would be a much more common reason in this thread if it was so frequently the case.

I think it's just more likely that there are decent sales on PSN and they are just decently marketed/curated on the store.

Until Best Buy starts offering 20% off on digital games, I’ll stay with physical copies.

I'm all digital and been that was for a few years now,. Wouldn't ever go back to disk. Less wear and tear and game switch its a huge plus without having to remove any disk.

Love Digital. Would be nice to be able trade some in but the convenience of not having to get up and switch disk for me outweighs everything.
