I'll forward this to the rest of the Xbox team. We can all just go work on Windows now, since our work is done

You know, I've heard this from other users, but (as far as I can tell), there's literally no technical way that changing a setting on the Xbox One should impact your DirecTV remote at all. I'm still baffled when I hear this, but it's a positive, not a negative, so I smile and shrug.

?Ask me about the Xbox Ally handheld - I'm on the team that made it.

I know...I thought "placebo effect" when I read his post too....the DirectTv remote talks directly to the box, the Xbox isn't intermediary at all....glad it's better for him though.

It absolutely works a lot better. Wife noticed it immediately. Have no idea why either. Before I would hit the guide button on my remote and I could count a few seconds off sometimes before the guide came up. It was awful. Wasn't happening at all earlier.

That's the directv receiver software acting up. It'll come back. Trust me.

Yeah I kind of figured it could be my directv box. It's an older one too so that makes sense. Not sure why it's an older one though since it's the latest one I had installed. Kind of annoying.

I have the newest genie and I get it to so it's a directv thing I think, not necessarily an equipment thing

Dumb question, if I hook up my Comcast box to Xbox One, I'll need the xbox on in order for me to watch TV correct?

Or can I have the system off and still be able to control my cable box going through xbox one?

It will have to be on, as designed. The box is designed to run relatively silently and for extended durations - 10 years has been a stated design objective.

Yeah ours will be on all day sometimes, and the bedroom one can be on all night if we fall asleep with the tv on....doesn't cause a problem at all. I think the large size was to make sure there wasn't any issue with heat this time.

Thanks. We'd like to say on electricity so we try not to keep things on that aren't needed.

I set up my xbox one this morning and was able to get my directv connected easily but was unable to get my TV to show full screen. I have a black bars on each side of the picture and couldn't find a way to get it to adjust to full screen. It's a 1080P tv and both my xbox one & direct tv box are showing that the resolution displayed but it's not full screen.

I'm not home right now so just wanted to get some suggestions before I leave the in-laws & head back home.

Edit: it's working fine now. I guess it just needed time.

Glad to hear things are working better now. If it happens again, let me know. Also, see if it happens on certain channels, but not others.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their use and feedback of TV on the Xbox One and everything we've done going back to the 360. Because of the work done for a variety of things, including Media Center Extender, Netflix on the 360 (which was a big deal), and the work we've done on the Xbox One, we won a technical Emmy!

See attached for a photo. It's low quality because that's the best I could do that didn't include people's faces. The trophy itself is bigger and heavier than you may expect.
