Yep I've been having that issue myself for the past handful of months on two TVs with the genie mini. Doesn't happen on my main genie box, but on that one the skip forward doesnt work. I was hoping one of these months an update would come and fix it, but nothing as of yet.

We've seen this a lot with the genie mini boxes. Some work great with the Xbox, others don't. Some workarounds or tricks I've seen include a different HDMI cable, as well as using an HDMI splitter (if you get a decent one, maybe $15-20) they do a better job negotiating the HDMI handshake.

I have noticed that the handshake stuff got better for me early on....

I used to have issues where the sound would go out of the cable, and I'd have to unplug and replug or reboot...

Haven't run into that issue in a while thankfully!

Cortana turns on way better for me than the old way....channels are ok too, though my kids channels are hit or miss if it'll know it for some reason

Yeah I'm definitely losing a ton of audio volume through pass through. I hooked up my comcast box on the same tv today and it was so much louder than my DIRECTV box running through My Xbox one. Kinda sucks.

studbucket - FYI, my Groove re-indexed the night again. i don't think i used it last week, but i definitely used it the week before playing FH3. i'm in the preview program already, so i don't think it was related to the new OS release.

Is the entire music collection being rebuilt from scratch? Or is it just adding a few tracks?

Have you had any situation where the power on the console has been pulled or lost unexpectedly?

If it's starting from scratch every time and re-building the database, that's not normal or expected and it means your database is being wiped for some reason.

The whole thing. I have just over 7000 tracks uploaded, so it's very noticeable when it does it. But it's not every time, this is probably the 3rd or 4th time since the summer when it was released.

Not that I can think of - does a hard reset count? I have to hard reset once or twice a week because either the Kinect isn't detected, or the controller won't connect.

And since I have someone on the team's ear, I'd just like to say for a free user I am pleasantly surprised by the features. Uploading my music was easy, but then I was trying to figure out how on earth I would bring my playlists over. The auto-suggested Playlists are pretty good - I've found them as a great starting point to make a copy and then edit that. There is some strangeness in there for sure (311 keeps getting suggested as rap), but it does a really good job of sticking to a vibe and picking some deep/less played album cuts. It's an impressive job considering I just threw 7000 random MP's at it

(edit - is there a reason the auto-playlists are XB1 only? why can't i see them on Android or the web?)

You know, a hard reset may effectively do that, as it's not exactly a graceful restart. I assume by hard reset you mean press+hold front power button? You can achieve the same thing by double-tapping the Nexus button, navigating to the settings section, and choosing "Restart" as it will do a full reboot.

However, that may not be the root cause. Next time you need to do a hard reboot, it may be worth trying this:
                  1) Launch Groove, verify your collection is there
                  2) Do a hard reboot (the "destructive" way, via press+hold front power)
                  3) After the reboot, see if your collection is there in Groove, or if it re-syncs

Frankly, we should be more robust to unexpected shutdowns, but it'd be good for us to understand if this is the bug, or if something else is going on.

Regarding your commentary - thanks! I have only been on the team 2 months, so I don't get much credit (for the good or bad), but I do think that the OneDrive feature is one thing that is actually really nice and we don't feature enough. I'd love to help out your situation by providing some feature like right-clicking on a playlist and uploading that playlist to OneDrive.

To the question: There are good engineering reasons for this. I am not claiming the business reasons are good ones, or that it is a good customer experience. However, currently those "Playlists for you" are only available on Windows 10-based clients. So Xbox, Windows Phone, and Windows PC/tablet. Basically, the clients that are running the Universal Windows App version of Groove. I wish they were available elsewhere.

It is redoing the entire music collection. Takes it about 5 minutes or such. I still am only gaming on my Xbox and using this feature about once a week or so. So maybe that is why? I don't think our power has been lost but maybe, honestly I cannot recall having to set the microwave or such though...

Is there some sort of time counter where it rebuilds it all if you've not used it in a while? Like 14 days or something?

No, it should frankly rarely, if never, re-sync the entire collection. It should only make incremental updates.

Are you guys in the preview program and able to file bugs?

Yes I meant press and hold the front power button. I know about the reset option in the menus, but what usually happens is my controller won't properly connect/sync and I need to get up and reset it manually.

I will try and check Groove before/after I do this next time.

As for the playlists...DUH! never thought of that...will load up Groove on my Surface/W10 and play with it that way. Thanks.

Controller wouldn't sync last week so I had to hard reboot. Groove music was there before and after, no rebuild this time.

and FYI, in case you are wondering how I was able to launch Groove when the controller wouldn't sync, I am still able to use the "software controller" in the Xbox App.

Thanks, good to know. Maybe keep an eye out for when it does re-sync everything. Is it after an app update? Still seemingly random?

I know you don't do this anymore, but our channel changing TV with kinect will now hear "Nick Junior" but takes us to the SD version not HD....anything I can do to try and change this? ABC and other channels perform just fine....just a few are odd.

In settings, try to reset your history, then favorite and tune to the HD version. That should train it to go to the right place.
