Any chance of a sling player app for those who travel with their xbox so they don't also have to lug a lap top to watch their cable?

There's always a chance for something like that, but we don't have anything to announce at this time.

Ok. So worst case scenario, you don't have to use any voice commands or anything to watch tv. You can just pick up your remote and watch tv like you always did.

Correct. Worst case you no longer need to change inputs to watch TV and you can snap TV while gaming. Best case, you no longer need your remotes.

Very strange. Here's my hypothesis, which could be completely wrong. Can you get it to repro consistently?

The STB times out/turns off after X amount of HDMI inactivity. The STB has no way to tell if something is connected over component, and perhaps when HDMI is connected, it assumes that is what is used. So, when you turned the Xbox Off, the STB assumed that nobody was watching and started its timer.

However, that doesn't explain why it came back when you turned the Xbox On...

So maybe it was an HDCP thing and the STB wouldn't display a signal until it could renegotiate the connection.

Anyway, I really don't know for sure, it's quite strange.

Tried it last night and it seemed to keep the picture unlike the night before.

I'll have to check my STB settings to see if there is a "stand by" mode".

I've been having an issue with my TV app every since I got it. Every day goes like this:

1) Watch TV just fine
2) Go to bed so I turn my 'Xbox off'
3) Get home from work, turn on my Xbox to watch TV
4) Go to the TV app
5) Black screen
6) Turn my Xbox off completely and turn it back on
7) It works

But today the last couple steps didn't work. Either way, I don't want to have to do this every day to watch TV. I contacted Xbox support but they had no idea what the issue was. Do you by chance?

Sounds like the hdmi handshake between the Xbox and cable box. Turning the cable box off and on would fix it too probably if that's the case.

Not sure how else to try to troubleshoot that otherwise

This is a known issue with some boxes. Mestevo's suggestion is a good one. Generally that helps. If it doesn't work, do a hard reboot of the Xbox One (press+hold power for 10 seconds).

This is one of a handful of issues we hope to get fixed soon.

I'm having an issue with TV integration on my Xbox One. I have my cable box (provider: Telus Optik TV in Canada). When I hit X or say "Show guide" I don't get a full guide. All it shows are the app channels, where I can select Favorites, app channels and watch TV. I don't get the full TV Guide to select channels.

Do you have a solution for me or a reason why this is? Much help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Judging by the comments in this thread, I believe it's because it's not available either for that provider or (more likely) region yet is all.

Yep, TV listings only available in US right now. We will light it up for other regions in the coming months.

Hey studbucket, do you expect more remote functionality in the near future? For example using the double play on DirecTV (down on the remote, not to be confused with channel/volume down).

Macros, like 'fast forward 5' that fast forward and then 5 seconds later send a play command? Or perhaps just code names for macros that could be tweaked and shared among users, so you'd say 'Xbox, macro alpha' to execute a user-defined set of commands.

Also, while channel numbers would be nice, being able to set a couple of favorites would be nicer for some of our use cases. We have a somewhat complex use cases while watching football on Sundays, we use both double play and the previous channel functionality. On one live buffer we have Red Zone and the other we'll have either the Chiefs (my team, dont judge) or the Patriots (my wife, im sorry). If there's another game we're keeping tabs on, we'll use the previous channel button to toggle on one of those 2. These games are on channels like 704, 720 and / or local channels. We maintain the live buffer on our preferred games by recording them.

Combining the above suggestions, we'd replace our remote with a handful of macros and favorites on Sunday.

Macro Alpha or Press Down = press down on the remote, toggling between buffers
Macro Beta or = previous channel

Favorite Alpha, Beta, etc = Go to designated channel that can't normally be addressed or otherwise can't get it to tune to (NFLST channels, KLVX vs KLAS, etc)

Granted I know anything possible, and it'll continue to evolve as a product, just getting some of my thoughts out there. I've probably typed this 3-4 other times and just never hit submit reply.

Great suggestions. I hadn't tested DoublePlay before, since I"m a Comcast subscriber and I didn't know DirecTV boxes could do that. We have a lot of them in the office, so I'll check it out.

Macros are certainly a valid way to do this and one possible generic solution. I think we'd ideally like to have something more seamless than that (macros are for power users), maybe even exposing the DoublePlay functionality to users who didn't know they had it, which is a win/win for DirecTV and Xbox.

Nothing to announce yet, but we definitely like the kinds of things you are thinking about.

The easiest way is via the miniguide. Hit the View button on your controller to be able to quickly switch between the last 7* channels you have tuned to.

It's not 1 button press like we're used to, but it's ~2-3 presses to get a lot more to choose from.

*It could be 8, I can't remember.
