IS MS going to add surround sound through HDMI functionality soon? This is the main thing holding me back from buying a One.

Surround sound is currently supported in a Beta form. You can turn it on in TV & OneGuide settings.

For some people it currently works great, however others may experience slight AV issues. We're working through those and hope to remove the "beta" tag in the future.

Any videos of how the cable box DVR playback/recording hooked to the XB1 is going to working for our non-gaming non-kinect speaking spouses?

Hey Zalf, I'm not sure exactly what you are asking for.

Whatever is plugged into the HDMI-in port of the console can be viewed via the Live TV app.

You can bring up the OneGuide from Home or Live TV by hitting X on the controller and you can change channels from there and easily access on-demand content from ESPN, NFL, Hulu, etc.

You will need to use your DVR remote to access DVR'd content.

FWIW, the Kinect is much, much easier to use now than on the 360 and if you calibrate it and have your wife signed in, basic voice commands like "Xbox Watch TV" or "Xbox Watch ESPN" should work well. My 4 year old daughter can even get the guide to show up sometimes, and she doesn't speak very clearly.

Yep, that would totally work. However, a Coax-to-HDMI converter is basically the same thing as a STB. So you can pick up a STB from amazon or your provider and use that.

Thanks, appreciate it. I worked on a product nobody cared about for my first 3.5 years at Microsoft. Now that I'm on Xbox, I just wanted to give back because I know how much I appreciated having Ian and other madden folks answer questions on the forums.

Think you can probably help with this one.

Can any Live TV feed (so anything coming over HDMI In) be snapped to the side of the screen?

Can the streaming services (let's say Hulu or Netflix for simplicity) also be snapped? Are all video apps supported for that or only some?

I think I know the answer to this, but does the Game DVR only work for game content (like playing Forza) and not for what's coming over HDMI In?

What interactions can you perform from SmartGlass in regards to Live TV/HDMI In? Is the whole of OneGuide on SmartGlass or just certain controls?

Sorry for all the questions, but I think this should help others too.

Main question is: my wife comes home to everything shutoff/on standby and wants to watch her DVR'd soap. I get that she will need to use the DVR remote but what is the process from everything's off to watching a DVRd show?

The guts of that video helped. For what my wife wants/needs to do nothing changes. If she wants to make use of new things she can, if not she just keeps on doing the same thing that she does now. As far as I can tell from that video.

Yes, that's right. What she can do is come home, say "Xbox On". That will turn on her TV and other devices. Then she can say "Xbox watch TV" and use her DVR remote to do whatever she wants to do.

If she wants to get adventurous, app channels and favorites will probably be some of the most impactful and cool things we've done.
